Who is Going to Make the Playoffs in the Tight Races in the East and West?

Other the Argos and the Als, who are all but out of it, there are tight races in the East and West for the playoffs. Who will make it?

The Calgary Stampeders (10-2) are first, four points ahead of the Saskatchewan Roughriders (8-5). The Edmonton Eskimos (7-6) are third, just two points ahead of both the B.C. Edmonton and Winnipeg face each other twice down the stretch, including Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium. They’ll square off again Nov. 3 in Alberta. The Bombers will also meet Calgary and Saskatchewan as well as Ottawa. The Lions, with a game in hand on Winnipeg, will play West Division rivals four times — Calgary twice, Edmonton and Saskatchewan — in addition to the Redblacks and Toronto Argonauts. Edmonton’s other contests are versus Saskatchewan, B.C. and Ottawa. The Riders visit the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday before finishing their regular season with four division games.
There’s also a race for first in the East Division. Ottawa (8-5) holds down top spot with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-7) four points behind. Toronto (3-9) and Montreal (3-10) are tied for third and both need a miracle to make the playoffs as they’re three wins behind both B.C. and Winnipeg in the crossover scenario. Hamilton hosts B.C. on Saturday after losing 35-32 in Vancouver last weekend. Then the Ticats finish their regular season against Eastern rivals — including a crucial home-and-home with Ottawa Oct. 19 and Oct. 27.

My predictions:

East
1. Hamilton
2. Ottawa
3. Toronto (no playoff spot)
4. Montreal

West:
1. Calgary
2. Saskatchewan
3. Edmonton
4. Winnipeg (crossover team)
5. BC

Hamilton looks good to represent the East in the Grey Cup.

And I'll be cheering for them to do so. Even as an Argo fan, I can't hate this year's Ticats. They are entertaining and creative, and play with a strange combination of swagger and humility. And for the CFL to really thrive, IMO both Ticats and Argos need to be good at the same time. So I hope Ham wins the GC to force us to raise our game to their level.

My son agonizes with any Ticat loss so I will put any life long bias aside and cheer for them along with him.

Once the Argos are officially eliminated, I'll be cheering for Hamilton. It would make very happy to see them be the ones to end the streak of eastern upsets in the Grey Cup, proving again what a loser organization that is.

I don't know if I can cheer for Hamilton to win the east. I would probably cheer for Ottawa instead but if Hamilton gets by them, I will give them my support in the Grey Cup, especially if they play the Riders.

I'm with you Ravi; would support either in the GC over the West.

The upcoming back to back with Ottawa vs. Hamilton will be the tale of the tape (i think) for who has the best shot in the East; i think the Ticats have the much better defence, and if Masoli and their offence is on, they should be able to beat Ottawa, but i'll be pulling for the RedBlacks (and 3 GC appearances in 4 seasons for a new team would be pretty impressive - and show all the naysayers how wrong they were about CFL football in Ottawa)
