Give some credit to Rourke. He changed his arm angle at the last second to get the ball by Argo defenders and looked off the receiver on the last TD pass before hitting Rhymes in the end zone. They have to get pressure on Rourke but that's difficult because of his mobility.
I have seen enough of Rourke. In less than 2 games I believe he is the best quarterback in the league. The time of possession is off the charts. He started a drive from his 1 that ended in points. The Argos had 1 possession in the first quarter.
Randy Ambrosie has to have a call with the owners and institute a rule where each team can exclude 1 Canadian from the salary cap. We cannot lose our best Canadians especially Nathan to the NFL.
Cam Phillips didn't show much fight to the ball on that one. Didn't look like PI to me.
3rd and 1 at the end of the 2nd and we're too scared to go for it. Dinner's got no confidence in the short yardage team... rightly.
If his salary does not count towards the cap his owner can choose to pay him what he chooses. Nathan would then have a choice to make. He can become the face of this league. The league needs to do all it can to keep players like him here. Otherwise the slow descent we are seeing viewers, attendance, demographic of audience may continue. This kid is the leading MOP candidate right now. He will win the Lou Marsh Award guaranteed.
Hard game to watch. I thought facing a real D line would rattle Rourke, but our guys are playing like crap. BCs O line (which isn't too much changed from last year) is giving Rourke all the time he needs. Pair that with our secondary playing soft (at least in the first quarter) and you're on pace to give up 40 points.
Offense isn't terrible, but they can't get on the field. Our short yardage makes me want to jump out a window. They ought to be ashamed that their coach won't trust them on 3rd and 1, even when we're at about a minute left in the half.
Not a good Saturday night so far.
239 yrds passing in first half
The one good thing I have seen from the Argos is the hard hits which may cause the Lions to hear footsteps and drop some balls in the second half.
Rourke used great clock management to march the ball downfield to get a FG with seconds to go before the half.
