I was not telling Angelo to F*&# himself. MLSE and the good folk at Rogers were telling his friend to go F*&# his self. Ownership in this city take their fans for granted. Given that the ownership of sports teams in Toronto are mostly the same people I guess we shouldn't be surprised. Let's face it that's we got last year by Argo ownership when they priced the grey cup tickets that way for the few STH they had.
Hi all. I am new here but have been a fan since the late 60's. i have been a STH at BMO for both seasons - such a great place to watch the Argos! I sit right behind the Argos bench this year - last year I was on the east side. I am disappointed in losing the flex tickets. i used them all to bring friends or let me 16 year old son and his friends go to a game. Exposing people to the great game experience is vital in my opinion. I have read through this whole thread. I agree that it is great that Argos management is on here and listening to fans. I do agree with many that if you water down the STH benefits it is harder and harder to justify the expense. I know that I can sit in great seats on a game by game basis buying tickets on the secondary market. Part of the reason I bought season tickets last year was that I thought that the move to BMO would attract more fans and the place would fill up. It still amazes me that we can't get more fans in a City this size. I will probably renew as i like being a STH and sharing the experience with others. But unless there are real defined benefits, I can see more and more people not renewing.
Maybe I'm just forgetting but what was the 2017 Season Ticket Holder gift?
We got the toques in the mail but we were told that those were Not the gift. We got the Bobbleheads but those were for Flutie night.
In previous years we got Argonauts Flags, Argonauts Glasses, the 100 Grey Cups book...
What was the 2017 Gift?!?
We know that Jamie Dykstra and Michael Hook check in and read the forum. Maybe they read this thread and provide some answers. Over to you Michael........
I was a Leafs STH for a few seasons back in the early '90's. Second to last row Greys! At the start of each season, the team sent STH the latest HHOF coffee table book, with a letter from Cliff Fletcher on the first page. This was not a franchise that suffered low attendance or lack of STH! It wasn't necessary on their part, but it was nice. A small gesture. Now, I certainly don't require a gift from the Argos to make me renew my ST, but these little things do show appreciation on behalf of the franchise. Kind of like no shipping charges on merch! Merch that, when I wear it around my community, is free advertising for the team!!! Little things, or the lack thereof, do add up...
Oh, I know it's apples to oranges when comparing the two teams on their own...Argos themselves lack money, but Bell/Tannenbaum do have the money. It's just a question of what they are willing to spend on Argo-related activity, whether it be thanking the STH, marketing, or whatever. One thing that could help market the team and say thanks to STH, is to reward the base (us) with a gift we'll wear, like a nice hat or something (those toques don't qualify - I mean something from their store), as well as free shipping of stuff we do buy. As I said, it's free advertising and the Argo colours look great, far and away the best in the city. Get the stuff out into the community. It's an investment!
Last year we got it (the toque) in the off season granted it was added late as it wasn't 'officially' part of the 2016 package.
This is only my second year as STH, when did it traditionally come?
Odd indeed. And this in the face of when they are trying to get us to renew for 2018. Broken promises speak volumes. Combine this with the lack of anything special for fan appreciation day....why have the day if you aren't going to do anything? I went to Williams Landing after the game on Saturday. I was there for a few hours and was quite surprised at the lack of players/coaches/cheerleaders/staff, especially coming off such a huge win!! Again, so many missed opportunities.
