Not everything is on the Internet and sometimes people actually know someone involved.

So what sporting event will attract more viewers tonight in Canada...the Argos Stampeders game or the fight between those 2 guys?
I'm just pointing out that sometimes there's not a public source available. For example in the past I've shared information about Dean Blundell that wasn't publicly available. I'm going to assume that the details of private rights negotiations wouldn't be made public.
If posting something for which the source can't be revealed, why not say so? "I know someone who works for TSN ..." etc. Rather than just state it as fact without any reference to where the info originated?
Sanctioned by the Nevada Boxing Commission. And you'd need at least three full briefcases to buy them off!
Apparently the fight got the desired results for all involved. Boxing people are happy because their guy won. UFC is happy because their moronic fans think their guy was robbed and the ref shouldn't have stopped the fight. What a joke of an event. Neanderthalism at it's finest.
MacGregor held his own through ten rounds, which surprised many, but he eventually tired as predicted. I don't regularly watch any combat sports, but I was entertained, and that's what counts. I paid $20 cover to watch it with friends at Boston Pizza. The restaurant was packed, the atmosphere was great and it was a fun night out.
It was an interesting match-up - in that it was a MMA star vs. a veteran, great boxer. But Mayweather is 40 (i think?) and nowhere near what he once was, and MacGregor is not a real boxer. In terms of top notch boxing - compared to some classic title fights of the past (say Ali/Foreman or Hearns/Hagler or Leonard/Duran, to name just a very few) - it was a joke and wouldn't rate in the top one thousand probably. Great for these guys that they made million$ and people were entertained, but it was hardly very good boxing by either. I went to a bar to watch Mayweather/Pacquiao (last summer was it or the summer before?) - and it was a decent fight, but a bad decision - Mayweathter just jabbed and ran the whole fight - Manny P was the aggressor the whole fight and landed the much harder shots; but when it comes down to the judges' scorecard decision - anything can happen and different viewpoints of "winning" a fight can be revealed - landing a higher percentage of wimpy punches as recorded by some "compu-stat" doesn't win you a fight in my books.
And I disagree that MMA is garbage; it's a different sport/ style of fighting and gets more hype than the old "sweet science" of boxing now; pretty brutal stuff at times, but they are tough, very skilled (and multi faceted fighters) athletes & competitors. Not for everybody I guess, and neither is boxing, and that's fine.
Now - back to our regularly scheduled football talk program.
:ohno::D
CFL reported great ratings for both semi-finals last week, best in 3 years. Average of 975K for the Eastern game and 1.1M for the Western one. Those are excellent numbers for semis, this weekend's games could set new highs!
I bet both games will hit over a million viewers this weekend, you have the idea Alberta match up CALGARY VS EDMONTON and then you have Ontario vs Sask, and you will get all the closet Argo fans watching the game on tv.
