It's hard to predict outcomes in the CFL at the best of times, but without a clear indication of who our starting QB will be... it is extra mysterious. Will Ray play? Will we get anyone important back on defence?
The last time the Argos visited Montreal 2 things happened that I predict won't happen Friday night. 1 Raheem Cato won't light up the Argo D like a Doug Flute. 2 The team will not cut 4 receivers after the train ride home.

Argos without Ray and with a banged-up defence are in very tough here IMO; not that the Als are very good, but I think they can play solid football, and if the new Argo QB cannot move the ball, and the Als offence gets lots of chances against a depleted Argo D, this could be a lopsided win for the Larks. But I think Fajardo at QB - game planned to his mobility and ability to run for 1st downs, supplemented by lots of run game with Whitaker and/or Wilder - could produce an Argo win. Very doubtful Trestman would commit to anything but his standard offence though, IMO.

The toll of playing three games in eleven days I think will linger into this game IMO.

What if they used both Matthews and Fajardo? One is more of a drop back passer, the other a scrambler. By utilizing both, they would keep the Als D off balance. I don't mean alternating them, but have one relieve the other if the offence starts to sputter. Similar to Holloway and Barnes back in the early '80's. It would give both of them some playing time under game conditions, as well.
Nice to read that Cash is expected to play this week. Finley's job is probably safe for now, but hopefully we can dress both Cash and Wynn. Hmm. There's probably a joke in there somewhere...
I hope Shirley continues to contribute to this forum. There are probably several who agree with the opinion that Fajardo has earned the right to start against Montreal but don't necessarily express that view on this forum. Yes, it can be tedious when a poster continues to advocate for one issue and one issue only but Shirley is obviously is an Argo fan and perhaps we can cut Shirley some slack if they (gender neutral you notice) seem to be over committed to this one issue.
So hopefully, we can show a little forbearance and let's instead, encourage Shirley to widen their view on some of the other contentious issues connected to the team.

Admittedly, I was hoping Fajardo would start, but I've always believed Matthews was talented. Just needs to get some consistency. Crazy to write off a 25 year old that has started all of 3 or 4 games in his career.
I don't care if Condredge Holloway starts as long as we win. I think this will be a two quarterback game. I think they will specific plays for there skill sets but Matthews will get the majority of the playing time. These two games are very important. We have one of the best coaches and GM's in the game so my vote is with those two men.
Totally agree. I hate the negatively around Mathews. He's poised for a young 25 year old. He played very well in the pre-season. He deserves a shot no more or less than Fajardo. If he struggles, we have a change of pace quarterback in waiting. I can see why coaches might think Fajardo needs more time. He doesn't make it through all his reads before he takes off, sometimes in panic. Not a bad thing to have wheels, but put a spy on him and he can be easy to gameplay against.Quote:

Matthews had some success in Hamilton back in 2015. 385 yards passing in one start. I really like Fajardo but I don't see why so many people are writing off Trestmans decision.Quote:
