The original report from the U.S. makes it sound like the team would remain in Buffalo with a game or two a year in Toronto as is presently the case. The Canadian reports which have come subsequently, led by Cathal Kelly of the Toronto Star, have morphed the original report into the team being moved to Toronto. Also, the original report from the U.S. is incorrect in that Rogers does not have an NFL stadium. Of course, all of this is predicated on waiting for a man to die and then hoping that there are no other bidders for the franchise.
While I ultimately think that MLSE will own the Argos and have them play out of BMO Field, having the likes Tim Lieweke involved at all in the Argos does send shivers down my spine.
Someone said this before, the NFL does like corporation ownership.
IIRC, corporations can't own more than 30% of an NFL franchise. I suppose that Bon Jovi and Larry Tanenbaum could get into bed together but what nobody can answer is how you get a $1 billion stadium build for a hypothetical NFL franchise in Toronto and that is the minimum amount it would cost.
you know you are f&?%ed when you hitch your hopes on Jon Bon Jovi. Living on a Prayer, perfect description of this joke.
Why oh why do these BS stories always come out on Grey Cup Sunday. Ravi is right, I've heard different versions of this story all day. The BS is getting BS'er.
Wobbler, you asked me to stop bumping the "Red Fridays" thread. Fine.
But why did you close that thread?
Are we not allowed to express and share our appreciation for our Troops?
I don't understand your reasoning in this.
Midnight
Sometimes I think all Women are psychic.
This is why they all usually slap my face over and over, when we first meet, even before I have a chance to utter a single word. But luckily, they eventually sense my chivalrous nature, so they usually stop slapping me after about 5 to 35 minutes. But I can take it. This also establishes an innate trust for them, in me.
And I'm glad to see, Argocister, that you have finally bought into the the four ellipses (or is it, ellipsis?), Oxford/Cambridge rule. Though I won't hold my breath.
Ka' Pla !
And dammit, Girl, you made me stutter ("the the").
But that's okay; all the best ones do....
K' Ka' Pla !
Tuned into the 590 stream for a bit. This fantasy is all they are talking about. That's why these BS stories come out on GC sunday. Its strategic on the evil empires part. This is why I in my small way try to shite on Rogers corp at every oportunity . I have convinced 2 people to switch to Bell, 1 more and i get a badge :D
The timing of the story is certainly curious and likely not coincidental. Let's not forget that Rogers probably has 35k tickets to that epic Bills/Falcons battle to sell by next Sunday.
Wobbler, I've had time to give this some thought;
I refuse to be a member of a Forum,
which does not allow us to share an appreciation of our Troops.
I will continue to visit and read Argo news,
but as of now, unless the aforementioned situation changes,
I am outta here.
If you want to spit on our Troops, do it in your private moments.
Ka' Pla !
That's how I read it. It's a marketing piece to sell NFL tix.
Seriously. Are CFL fans that insecure? I really think CFL/Argo fans need to get off the soap opera train every time a bloody "NFL in TO" story gets printed. We all know what it will take to get a franchise ... so only when we see real concrete steps being actually TAKEN and not talked about ... we should pretty much ignore this drivel and not feed the stupid melodrama.
We have a new home for the team to discuss. At least that is something real!!!
Here are links to a couple of articles which discuss the obstacles to any of this happening (and some of those have been mentioned time and again on here): http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...ticle15581107/

The Globe and Mail article also delves into MLSE's plan for the Argos.
I'm pretty sure this story is an early April Fools joke, perhaps to burst the CFL's Grey Cup balloon or to draw awareness to the largely-ignored Bills game next week.
According to the originating story, Bon Jovi fired his longtime guitarist, replacing him with "unknowns" to save money for his NFL bid. Hard to believe Rogers/MLSE would be banking on Jovi as their frontman for a multi-billion dollar bid?
In Cathal Kelly's Star story, he claims Tim Leiweke is going to play the role of rabbi in the deal. Kelly also claims that Bon Jovi and Tannenbaum "are old friends." (I somehow find this hard to believe)...or that Bon Jovi's "go-to golf buddies are Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones."
"Again, you have to parse the meaning, but it’s clear and getting clearer — the CFL in Toronto can live on our terms (Rogers/MLSE?), or die on their own."
Then there's the little matter of the $400 million penalty for breaking the Bills lease early in Buffalo? Perhaps Bon Jovi could buy the Bills using Rogers money but keep the team in Buffalo. Then wait five to seven years and play 4 games a year in their brand new billion-dollar Toronto NFL stadium, generously provided by MLSE. A perfect circle!
And if Jon somehow can't put this deal together he can always sing an impromptu blues number for his good buddies, Larry, Jerry and Moe, "I ain't nothin' but a houndog..."
