Yet nothing has been preventing people from bringing their BBQs to parking lots in the vicinity of the stadium! The reason there's been an issue is that most people associate tailgating not with BBQing but with drinking.

Looking forward to tailgating on Saturday, have not done it in 2 years. Always impressed with the Hamilton fans that come out. It will be interesting how things unfold with the new legislation and all.
tailgate the gotrains!
So, after several years of tailgating WITH tents, Exhibition Place security starts coming around in their golf carts telling people they had to take down their tents on a day where humidity was in the high 30's. They have no issues with the BBQ OR the drinking mind you just the tents...needless to say their instructions weren't exactly listened to.
I realize this has nothing to do with team, but as a fan it certainly is frustrating. While I don't see tailgating as the be all to end all, all that is happening is indirectly alienating some fans who already feel shat upon by everyone and everything.
Why are the tents a problem? It should be the least of their concerns.
I was late to the game, but was glad to see many tents still put up. I assume hardly anyone listened to Mr. Security. I would recommend to continue business as usual or ask to see the supervisor on duty. There is nothing that can be done until the police are involved and only then will you get a more definitive answer as to by-laws, etc. Are they really going to take it that far? I doubt it. Even then, the cops will come by, have a chat and then leave thinking what a waste of time that was.
