The only DC to sketch a play on a white board, erase it and not hand out playbooks to his players has been axed. I'm all about creativity but he went a little overboard at times.

So who's In line for the Bomber DC job, Benevides? You would think Etch would try to conform with his approach to the modern player. How may times does he have to get fired to catch on, his way or the highway doesn't work anymore.
Bummers can maybe hire another retread good ole boy like Ritchie Hall as DC; Etch-a-sketch should be laughed out of football and never re-hired by a serious football team.
Hey Ravi - maybe time to re-do your signature at the bottom of your posts ? - "unstoppable force"??? - LOL - maybe the Argos should hire same old good ole boy Cortez now as OC to try and refine the same old look CFL offence |?
Yeah I was thinking Richie Hall. The timing of Etchevery firing and Richie Hall demotion is too coincidental. Unless O'Shea calls the defence.
You could be right about Richie Hall. He is suppose to have some post with the Riders (they're getting as top heavy as the Leafs) but he probably would prefer to keep Coaching.
I think Ravi that Benevides was the DC in Vancouver before moving up to HC for Wally.
It's pretty obvious that O'Shea only hired Etcheverry because of his familiarity with him, having starred on his defence in the late 90's. It was likely a move to help him transition to his first head coaching job, and you can't blame him for wanting experienced co-ordinators (or as OV likes to refer to as good ole boys) to help him in that aspect. But anyone that saw Etcheverry fail not only in his most recent CFL gigs, but also as head coach of the Ottawa GG's, could see that this was not going to be a great hire in the first place.
If the Bombers do hire Benevides as defensive co-ordinator, they will have Canadians at offensive and defensive co-ordinator as well as at head coach and GM with all having a background in Ontario universities (Benevides was a student at York). The Bombers may end up being OV's new favourite team. ;)
