Brad Sinopoli became the first player on the free agent list to sign with his 2017 team when he signed a two year extension with Ottawa.
Ottawa has resigned two more potential free agents for two years, former Argo National FB Brendan Gillanders and National LB Jean-Philippe Bolduc, as the team focuses on keeping the Canadian players it wants early after the announcement of their free agent list.

There is potential for a lot talent to be available on the free agent market.

Consider this: of the 217 players on the CFL’s pending free agent list, 21 were just named to either the East or West Division All-Star teams, including Stanley Bryant, T.J. Heath and Chris Randle of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Others – like Edmonton Eskimos receiver Derel Walker, the Bombers’ Travis Bond, Calgary Stampeders bulldozer Jerome Messam and B.C. Lions receiver Manny Arceneaux – have been CFL all-stars before.
There’s more: three of the nine starting quarterbacks in this league – Toronto’s Ricky Ray, Hamilton’s Jeremiah Masoli and Trevor Harris of Ottawa – are also all scheduled to become free agents, as are rising QB stars like Brandon Bridge in Saskatchewan and Edmonton’s James Franklin.
Jeremiah Masoli and Brandon Banks, as well as National DB Jonathan Langa, have all signed contract extensions with Hamilton since January first.

Carter is in a league of his own in more ways than one.

Milt Stegall's reply to Carter says it best ("he" refers to Carter).

International Eskimo DB Kenny Ladler has signed with the Washington Redskins.

The ever dangerous William Powell, who finished second in rushing despite only playing in 12 games in 2017, has signed an one year extension with the RedBlacks. His main problem has been staying healthy, having missed six games in 2017 as well as all of 2016.

TJ Lee has signed a one year extension with the Lions. There is an error in the Vancouver Sun report below. Lee had a team-high 4 interceptions, not "14 interceptions".

The Als have signed National DBs Michael Carter and Chris Ackie to one year extensions. Carter has bounced around the league from team to team since 2011, including a brief stint on the Argos PR in 2016.

Now that QB Darian Durant is a free agent for the first time in his career, he has decided to take his time in deciding who he will sign with. There is speculation that Toronto, Winnipeg and Hamilton might be interested in the veteran QB.

Jeff Krever takes a look at 11 free agents who he thinks are more likely to switch teams, including: current Argo Mitchell White, former Argos Diontae Spencer and TJ Heath, as well as Ted Laurent, Davaris Daniels, Chandler Fenner, Travis Bond, Jerome Messam, Jamaal Westerman, Roy Finch and John White.
https://www.cfl.ca/2018/01/18/fa-shu...swap-uniforms/
Which of these or other free agents would you like to see the Argos sign, if any?
I would like to see the Argos keep Mitchell White, if the price does not climb too high. It would be great talent wise if the Argos could sign Ted Laurent, but as a talented National his price is likely beyond what is reasonable for the Argos, considering the talent they have along the DL.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Stampeders running back and return man Roy Finch, Eskimos running back Travon Van, Argos receiver DeVier Posey, Stampeders defensive lineman Ja’Gared Davis and Riders linebacker Jeff Knox worked out today for the Ravens - <a href="https://twitter.com/3DownNation?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@3DownNation</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/CFL?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#CFL</a></p>— CFL News (@CFL_News) <a href="https://twitter.com/CFL_News/status/954152726719614977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 19, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
DB Chris Randle has resigned with the Bombers through 2019.

Not surprisingly, Shaquille Johnson has signed a one year extension with the Lions as he said in November his strong chemistry with teammates meant he looked forward to resigning. He finished second among National receivers in yardage in only his second year, acting primarily as a deep WR as reflected in his 17.2 yards per catch.
http://3downnation.com/2018/01/19/li...-shaq-johnson/
BC has also signed DL David Menard through 2019. He has been valuable to the team playing in rotation on the DL, especially in putting pressure and getting sacks on QBs.
https://www.bclions.com/2018/01/22/l...k-menard-2019/
The Eskimos have cut three potential free agents (Nationals safety Cauchy Muamba, OL Danny Groulx, and International DE Phillip Hunt) as well as International DL Marcus Howard.
Muamba could be a useful TC addition to the Argos for depth at safety in case of injury to Gabriel or Black as he is now a backup and his salary demands are not likely to be too high.
https://www.cfl.ca/2018/01/22/howard...our-esks-cuts/
CFL.ca has ranked its 30 top free agents which are listed below.
Although I have always thought highly of Diontae Spencer, I am surprised he is ranked #1. I would also rank Ricky Ray and SJ Green higher because age is not as important a factor with free agents as in earlier days now that players can easily leave at the end of a contract.
https://www.cfl.ca/2018/01/22/cfl-ca...gents-2/#1to10
Ottawa has extended one of the top potential free agents, National OL Alex Mateas, who was the team's nominee for Outstanding Lineman and for the Tom Pate award for sportsmanship and community work, through 2019.
https://www.ottawaredblacks.com/2018...gns-redblacks/
Edmonton has extended DB Neil King, who has been with the Eskimos for two years after three years in Hamilton, through 2019.
https://www.cfl.ca/2018/01/24/esks-e...gn-two-others/
I would rate Diontae Spencer ahead of SJ and Ricky Ray in the draft because he fills two positions and all teams would love to get a double threat, he's a great receiver and a great returner. SJ Green was a good clutch receiver and any team could use him but Spencer get the edge because of his value as a returner too.
Ricky Ray is old and most teams have their QB right now and not looking, besides the Argos the only team that could possibly use him would be the Als.
The Stampeders have signed International DE Ja'Gared Davis, who already has 16 sacks after only 28 games in the CFL.

International DB/ST Desmond Washington has signed a one year extension with Hamilton.
