With Ottawa being the only team that plays 2 games in a week (Argos have had this each of the last 2 years), there really was no other option. Argos will be 11 days between games for this one, Ottawa 5.
Plus, if that is considered a week the Argos had to have a home game, they had no choice regardless, as TFC plays at home the Saturday night that weekend.
No conflict with the Honda Indy either. (it's July 14-16). That's great, getting to the game last year while the race setup was in place was like breaking in to a prison.
The team that has to play twice in a week and their two opponents that week will always get the short end of the schedule. Hopefully we get a break from that the next few years, but I imagine East teams will get put in those positions most years because they have shorter travel distances.
Oh to have a tenth team.

Laughable tweet from the tennis player.
Nothing wrong with a team that finished last one season getting a bit better schedule than the champs. Furthermore, the Argos haven't had a good schedule in years until now.

The whining in so-called "RNation" over their schedule is hilarious. Three games in 11 days -- the horror.
I was annoyed when they were complaining about their schedule without invoking the Argos into it--how do you think I feel now?
You know for a team that the league is supposedly "favoring" the Argos sure haven't taken advantage of said favoritism since 2012.
Just for the hell of it I went back to look at the last five Argo schedules.
2012: Twice they played two games just five days apart (Sept. 3-8 and Oct 14-19) and once they played just four days apart (July 14-18)
2013: Three times played five days apart (Aug. 18-23, Sept. 3-8, Oct. 14-19)
2014: Three games in 12 days (Aug. 11-17-23)
2015: Twice played three games in 11 days (Aug. 3-8-14, Oct. 6-12-17), also played Sept. 7-11 and Aug. 23-28
2016: Once played three games in 11 days (Oct. 10-15-21) and once played three games in 12 days (Sept. 5-11-17)
The Redblacks are now furious because they have to do once what the Argos have had to do three times in the past two seasons, not to mention all the other situations with short rest. Ridiculous.
I was speaking to my client who works for MLSE and he mentioned there's a possibility of the pre season game on June 8 being moved to an 11am start and make it a school day event.
If it happens, STHs will be contacted shortly. Assuming they'll offer either a refund of a credit for that day for those who don't attend.
If it happens, I think it's a great idea and glad it's being done again. Since it's on a Thursday, I'm not as inclined to go as I've attended one pre-season game ever (last year) ever for all sports.
Sounds great ! I am retired, so a day game would be fun during the week. I never miss a game, pre-season or not. It's a great way to see the new guys and see who sticks out. Besides, after almost 7 months, it is great to watch football again !!!
I think a school day event would be fantastic. Last year I used the freebies to bring 12 (!) kids to the game from the neighbourhood, and planned to do the same thing this year. If they make a school thing, even if my kids' school was not going, I would take them out to get them to the game.
Argos did something similar at the SkyDome. We arranged for 2 buses and brought minor league football players from Oshawa and Whitby. A great idea.
Yes - great schedule this season!
But gee - I hope the TFC schedule takes our home games into consideration.
I'd hate to have them inconvenienced by a poor quality pitch...
Hahaha!
