"Little Caesars Coliseum" would fit better.
I didn't even realize that Detroit was getting a new arena. It seemed like only yesterday that Joe Louis Arena opened.
Given what the state of the Red Wings franchise was before Mike Ilitch bought the team, he can call the arena whatever the fuck he wants.
I know that in the modern world it is not going to change, but I wish we could go back to the times when stadiums and arenas had names related to the teams that played there rather than sponsors who other than money have no tie to the sport involved.
First thing that crossed my mind as well when I heard the name.
For $6.25 million dollars annually; I can see why naming rights get sold. I have no issue with naming rights, but it would be nice if the Arenas name didn't change every 5-10 years like some do.
