I'm willing to bet Woods is not really injured, just paying his dues as a rookie who's not yet ready to play. At least he's getting game cheques, unlike Sackey and (usually) Kolankowski.
Likely for salary reasons. If Gabriel was healthy, the smart play is to continue developing the much cheaper rookie (Woodson) and young player (Webster) and to use some of Black's higher salary...
As I said above, I'm pretty sure McDaniel is now the backup kicker. Dressing someone who can kick in an emergency is essential. Plus McDaniel can play ST, and he was one of our two KRs last game....
