This deal speaks well for where the league is at currently. If I am not mistaken, the reach of ESPN2 is about the same as ESPN today which is much different than when the CFL was last regularly on there in the mid 1990s when ESPN2 was promoting itself as an "alternative" sports network. It is great that the main ESPN network will be televising games with the first one on July 31st. IIRC, the last time the CFL was on ESPN was in the mid 1980s.
Between ESPN and Sports Illustrated, the CFL will be getting more U.S. media coverage this year than it will in Toronto.

The frequency of televised games is a bit higher this year, too. Last year they only showed one game a week, but the current schedule shows seven games in the first five weeks of the 2014 season.
The new deal has been disappointing so far.
At least in my area (West coast), ESPN/ESPN2 hasn't shown any CFL games so far in August and I can't find any upcoming broadcasts either. Last year they showed one and occasionally two games per week.
Ah - so it's not just me. The official schedule shows no CFL games broadcast in August in the U.S. I can only conclude that the ratings for the July games weren't satisfactory.
It's not looking good, Ravi. There are only three games being broadcast in September and one of them is on "ESPNNEWS", which has a limited distribution (I don't receive it).

Berman is a class act, and a FOOTBALL fan. (not just an nfl flag waver)

somebody better tell Berman to bring his own chair
The Argo's and CFL should PAY ESPN back after that fiasco called a football game

The Ticats/Als game on Sunday will also be televised by the main ESPN network. In other words, ESPN will be having a CFL doubleheader on Sunday, perhaps for the first time since the early 1980s.

They're going up against week 1 of the NFL no less.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
There are only three games on the October schedule as well. I remain underwhelmed by ESPN's level of interest in the CFL.
ESPN2 will have both the West semi-final and Grey Cup while ESPN will televise the East Final. All other games from here on in (barring any last minute changes) will be televised solely on ESPN3: http://cfl.ca/page/2014-us-broadcast-schedule
