No it isn't, the bar is there sure, but there is so much more. It is easily the grittiest Star Trek series, it takes risks and explores areas that the writers would only dream of under Mr. Roddenberry.

Not necessarily. There's the prime directive fro TOS time and one from TNG time. Look at any directive and add 80 years of interpretation to it and we have the differences.

In Kirk's day they saved planets and had no qualms with interacting with the natives.

They did have qualms with interacting with the natives in the preview clip.

I have to agree with argofan87 here. DS9 asked a lot of great questions. It pushed the universe of Star Trek to its limits and in a good why. I highly recommend it!

As I mentioned somewhere above, DS9 is my favourite too. It had the most Klingon on Klingon action of all of the series. In a gruelling, bone-crushing, blood-thirsty, belligerent, brilliant sort of way. Way!

    Go Vikings !

Agreed. I liked DS9 better once the war with the Dominion got going. Babylon 5 was best during the Shadow War too.

My advice to you would be patient. I think T-Bone will disagree with me, but DS9 starts off a bit slowly and picks up steam from about the end of Season Two to the end.

I don't disagree that the show is trying to find itself in the first season but I think the second season is where it starts picking up. Also if you can deal with TNG season one and two than DS9 season one and two are a cakewalk in comparison.

Happy 20th Birthday Deep Space Nine!

The Force is with JJ? J.J. Abrams to direct next ‘Star Wars’ for Disney

Wait. I thought he already directed Star Wars?:

I'm skeptical too. Abrams should be satisfied with inventing Star Trek and leave the Star Wars franchise to someone with a different vision.

Only a matter of time before they merge the two. Expect a romance between Spock and Chewbacca. lol.
