Well... I was pretty sure that another Mad Max movie was needless/foolish/exploitative/insulting and scoffed at the early (positive) news last year regarding Fury Road. Apparently I was very wrong.

Mad Max: Fury Road is getting fantastic reviews from my go-to sites AV Club and the Dissolve, and is at 99% right now on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm in!

The Ex Machina BD is sitting on my "coffee table", and I plan to watch it soon. Does anyone have an opinion on it?

I saw it in the theater and I expected it to be more "brainy" but it didn't turn out that way. I still really enjoyed it and it was refreshing to see a film with pacing instead of the "ADD" quick move it along majority of films we get these days.

    I really liked Ex Machina!

It is "accessibly cerebral". It explores interesting questions (What is a person? When does ownership become enslavement? How does gender identity apply to AI?) without forgetting to entertain. Most importantly, it respects its audience by not over-explaining. I really love that.

I'd rather follow Kirk's example. "On the count of three, I'll open fire. One...FIRE!"

Worf: The next hit will cause significant damage to the Enterprise.
    Riker: Shouldn't we return fire?
Picard: No, I believe we can still find a diplomatic solution.

Except if the enemy happens to be the Borg. In that case, Picard turns into a raving lunatic.

I think you have to learn and recite "Ode to Spot"

Honestly, I have no idea what it will be like exactly. I signed up though.

I'm planning to see The Martian next week. I enjoyed the book, and hope that the movie preserves most of the wry wit. Best case scenario is that it ends up feeling like a modern day Apollo 13, I think.

I've been watching the first season of The Man in the High Castle, Amazon's adaptation of the classic P.K. Dick SF/alternate history novel. It's really very good, and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone with Amazon Prime.

Not a huge Sci Fi guy and I wouldn't go out of my way to catch a movie but I looked up some of the ones I liked. In no particular order Westworld, ET, Planet Of The Apes, Back To The Future, 2001 A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner. All original movies.
I love some of the B type movies that you stumble upon every once in a while filling channels. I do love older less polished flicks.
I thought Blade Runner was cool as hell at the time. Oh and the original Mad Max.

All great films. There is a new Westworld show coming out next year that is a remake of the film but looks like it has potential:

Though I consider this fantasy vs. sci-fi, I'm excited to be going to see it tomorrow:
