It sounds like Etcheverry tried to run the kind of offence that wouldn't be classified as a "good ole boys" offence and it failed miserably for him.

Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
Next to Skippy Huard, the worst head coach the Argos have ever had...and that includes the Bartman.
Good luck recruiting QB's or offensive players with pro aspirations running that offence. Maybe he thought he could find the next Adrion Smith at QB.Etcheverry, a former head coach of the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and a long-time defensive co-ordinator in the league, had been on the hotseat at Ottawa for implementing a non-traditional double-wing offence.

It's us vs the rest of the country
Well, Etch's firing has inspired the GeeGees as they won today over Toronto 34-6. Good for Ottawa. They were in 4 th place last year, and graduated a minimal number of starters. They are now 1-5.
Amazing how important the coach is ...... Go Milanovich!
I don't like that score. I'm a U of T fan. I really thought the Blues would have there third win. CRAP!!
Really sucks that a great season for U of T or York these days is to be mediocre or maybe average.
U of T and York are definitely average..... And improving. The only problem is that all the teams are improving. The bar is being raised for the majority of the teams in the CIS ...... with better and more coaching ( with some exceptions ....... Etcheverry) and more funding..........so as York and UofT improve so do the others.
From talking to a friend who follows CIS football a little bit, it seems that the U. Ottawa athletics program isn't getting the funding it used to. When I attended U. Ottawa from 2005 to 2009 the team was always strong with Josh Sacobie and Brad Sinopli playing QB in that era. But, the farthest they made it was the game before the Vanier Cup, but never won it. It just seemed to me that while U. Ottawa could field good teams that they were a step behind some of the elite programs in Ontario such as Western or Laurier. This year was also a bit of a broken season for the Gee Gees. They were playing at Frank Clair for the longest time, but that is no longer an option. A new stadium is/was being built on the piece of land that I presume was formerly owned by Algonquin College. U. Ottawa had acquired that property when I was there, but never used it for anything. But, that stadium was delayed so they were stuck playing in a stadium well beyond the fringe (Stittsville) and that can't be easy either.

The competition is on in Ottawa. Just after firing Etch, the university announced more money for four sports teams to bring them up to national competitive standards. Of course football is included. So after the Vanier is decided, the GeeGees will be searching for a new head coach with increased funds for the team.

Laval, McMaster,Western and Calgary ...... Oops better include Guelph, Montreal and Sherbrooke ...... Are raising the bar. So Carleton and U of Ottawa want to be there.
Stats show firing a coach usually doesn't work but since the firing Ottawa had won two and almost beat Western today 32-29. Whatever the new guy is doing, he's turned the whole team around.
