I HATE censorship of any kind, and its seems lately that many of the MOD's are so "thin skinned" that many people on here are being censored, edited, or having posts deleted completely.

I would suggest that either ALL members of this forum should have the same abilities to edit/delete/censor any postings, OR just let all members post whatever they like= no censorship.

This forum has taken a very LAME route towards "political correctness gone mad".

Let T-Bone rant about soccer, let Argoholic curse, bring back Area51, and let Midnight post whatever his drunken mind has flowing out of it, ...

The Mod's in my opinion, are imposing THEIR views, and THEIR values on all of us, which is not what FREEDOM of speech is all about.

If you find something offensive, either type a rebutal, or DONT read those posts...

I HATE the idea of the MOD's acting as "big brother"...i can choose to read, laugh, or turn the page, thats my idea of FREEDOM of SPEECH on the internet...or in this country.

When you signed up to this message board you accepted the terms to follow the rules layed out by the owner of the site. The moderators are here to enforce those rules. It seems a bit hypocritical to me to accept the rules and then complain you don't like them. If you want a board where anything goes then you are free to start one.

As T-Bone said, the mods are here to enforce the rules put forth by the owner. You accepted those rules, you need to stick to them. I'm tired of people pulling the "freedom of speech" card. These rules apply to all CFL Forums. If you don't like them you're more then welcome to start your own forum.

You can freely express your view without resorting to swearing or putting people down. And if you can't, then your maturity level may need some work.

This forum is slanted, and its kind of sad....that said, I love the Argo`s so much that even if i am FORCED to agree to draconian rules, i will submit to the regulations just because i am a fan...

The BEST part of FREEDOM of SPEECH is that when you engage in heated discussions, most often you can gain an appreciation for the other sides views.

Yes T-bone i did sign up, yes i begrudgingly agreed, but i still HATE the fact that some folks (MODS) can impose their WILL, their IDEALS, their VALUES on the masses.

No matter how upset anothers comments can make you...they are JUST words...(sticks and stones will brake my bones, but names will never hurt me).
The younger folks have thin skin, and cannot take a debate if it is somewhat distasteful. Pity, cause if this were 1939, the youth of today would not have fought for FREEDOM, as my grandfather did.

Yes I have to agree that this society of today is messed up. We can't swear here because it may offend, yet those youngsters who it may offend our horribly bullying and checking out all sorts of porn on hand held devices. They are indulging in sexually activities that I still haven't heard about as per Friday nights CBC Doc Zone. Twisted that heated discussion with the odd swear word is banned. I'm sorry but I really don't get your original post. All the mods do is censor swear words and delete totally irrelevant threads or personal attacks. There are two soccer threads and T-Bone or anyone can discuss any soccer topics on there or even make a new one thats not TFC/ CSA related. Not sure why T-Bone is dragged into this conversation anyways. As for swearing, its pretty unaccepted anywhere you go and all a mod does is censor that one word. We are not going on changing what you say to fit our opinions. If you really have to swear, then please get a dictionary and find new words. If you think making a personal attack is appropriate then I really don't know what to say.

Think about it, if no one was a mod how would feel if this forum became anything and everything non-Argo related. Heck lets make this a racist/sexist/homophobic/ pornographic site just because anything goes. Kinda defeats the purpose of having an Argo forum. If you aren't happy with the freedom of speech in this country, contact your local MP and let them know.

Lastly, if you don't like this forum then its very easy to just leave. No one is forced to be a member here and its great to see the majority of users not have a problem with this forum. I was actually going to delete the thread because it really baffles me and honestly I just don't get it.

T-Bone, if you were in my house, your opinions would be valued, accepted, appreciated, and encouraged...no matter how much they differed with mine. The fact we all think differently, is what makes a FREE society so amazing.

Sometimes people say things that may seems distasteful, or offensive..BUT..if you can open your mind enough to listen, you will make a much more accurate judgement on those same thoughts.

I would prefer no censorship, no edits, no deletions...and like i said before..if you dont like a post..retort/rebut...or just dont read it...the crazy politically correct folks want us to ONLY read/think/believe THEIR version of what is right and wrong....i prefer to come to those same judgements on my own...

I have been an Argofan since 1977, i love this forum....but it really has turned into "political correctness gone mad".

Finally...i LOVE this forum..i LOVE the Argo's...just wish that ALL sides would be allowed to express their opinions equally...

Guess being a hardcore Argofan has alot more stipulations than it did in the late 70's/early 80's....

Mark Combot owns the site, but has left it up to me to run it. Everything on the back end for about 3 months now. Still learning some coding if I need to.

Your quoting yourself as being "Censored" But the last I see in the moderator log for you was well over a month ago. During one of many T-Bone vs the world anger attacks. (Which is why your post was deleted)

If you have an issue with any of the rules, you can PM myself or another moderator. We will certainly discuses it and make changes if need be

I agree with this, but to be the victim of countless attacks because of his views? I'm not saying T-Bone is innocence either. But people just need to let it go. Remember before you post about Rule 14.

The mods are always open for a Private Message. Or to chat about whatever happened, explain our decision. I don't want anyone to think that once we lay the hammer down that's final. If your upset about something PM one of us. If you feel your post shouldn't have been deleted/edited. PM one of us. Communication is key with everything. To sit at home or talk with other forum members about what we did, and stew about it only makes you more upset. I hate to say it, but if anyone is angry at us, guess what, does't affect us. It only affects you. George is angry/upset at Jim, but Jim doesn't know it, so Jim can't fix it.

T-bone pisses off alot of people...as do i....YET when he was attacked on this forum i defended his right of freedom of expression vehemently...i just wish that ALL Argofans on this forum could have the same freedom of expression.

Right, I get it now. Midnight Blue went on another off-topic drunken tirade. Posting Youtube clips after youtube clips in unrelated threads. And making some pretty inappropriate threads. After a little research, I found that over 80+% of his posts are of that nature, and most of those end up getting deleted or moved. I threw him into a group where his posts go into a moderator queue, and went to bed. Because I wasn't feeling that great last week. I didn't PM him, because I forgot. So that's my bad. But Alot of the stuff was just inappropriate, and it was suggested to try this by another mod. (It's easier to approve 20% of posts, that to delete 80% of posts.)

And I just wanted to say, that in the last six months or so, I've generally kept my humourous off-topic posts, confined to the "Sociable' thread. Hopefully humour is still allowed there.

Being in at least the second, if not in the third tier, of brilliant Football minds here, I have to go with my strengths. Humour. Whether real or imagined. And while I admit that sometimes my humour is only apparent to myself, my supreme self-confidence and self-appraisal, often make me think that others automatically appreciate my brilliance. Being born with the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Leo, my lovable nature generally lets me get away with more shit than others would. I'll try not to constantly take advantage of my innate advantages. I'll try.

Not entirely true, there have been times recently where you bombarded regular threads in the Double blue room with countless youtube clips, and off-topic drunken jibber. And I don't like or want to see tips for "Scoring" with woman. While we are a little more lenient what goes on in Socible!, some things are still unacceptable.

But Freedom of Speech has it's limitations. While we do have the power to remove or edit posts. We don't do it lightly, and are trying to do it for the better of this forum. Hence any personal attacks are removed as well as mini-fights.

I understand this, but some people just need to let their hate and anger go. This is why we started planning the meetups in the first place. If you but a face to a name, and a personality the negative attitude goes away.

I agree as well, but what are we talking about "whatever side" or "other side"? If there is something specific then I may need to know. Is about certain posters upset about soccer related threads here?

I said months that I feel the best way to bring in people to this site is to appeal to a broader audience. There's nothing wrong with a Soccer topic in the Toronto Sports thread. That's why it was created. To talk about other sports. It's when people drag that hate into other topic's is when it gets out of hand.
I mentioned a while ago that the people who hate soccer/tfc seem to mention soccer/rc more than the people who actually post about it. Then, post about how this is an Argo Site and not a TFC/Soccer site. It really confuses me, are they complaining about their own posts? I don't know. If you don't like it, don't talk about, and ignore other posts about it. It's that simple.

What was the focus of your original post? I can pull moderator logs to see what was posted/changed/deleted. Who did it. Why, etc. And I can tell you we don't change or delete near as many posts as you think we do.

There is a few scenario's

We receive a report - If regular member see's a post that they either don't like, or they think it goes against the rules. Click the report button, right away an email goes to the mods for review.

If one of the Mods spot something. - Usually it's up to the MOD's Discretion, after taking a look at the rules. It's up to the mod to interpret the rule if they spot something first. They use the official rules as a guideline. If they are unsure, soft delete it, and we review amongst ourselves.

Everything myself or the other mods do is logged and tracked. They don't have the ability to "hard" delete posts. Only soft delete them. That means posts are hidden from view for regular posters. But Mods and Admin's can still see them and review/undelete them if need be. So if anyone notices a post has gone missing and wants to know why. They can ask us.
