Anyone else go to see RUSH

I attended the concert after the Argos game. It was a very good concert as usual. If your a fan of 70's RUSH you might have been a little disappointed. First set featured heavily on their mid-80's releases while the second set featured their new album.

This is a setlist for the show yesterday, it does vary a bit. You may here Dreamline instead of Manhattan Project and a few other substitutions throughout, but largely it should be the same.

Thanks. I didn't buy their new album, actually haven't bought any since Test for echo, and playing 9 straight songs from it reminds me of their last tour when they played all of Moving Pictures. I assume the material is good?

As for the other song choices there are some I had never heard live before though I only started going in 2002.

Some of the songs off the new album were all right, but not all of them.

Where's My Thing an instrumental of Roll the Bones might have been my favorite song of the night.

I left 70's rock behind when I discovered punk and The Ramones in the late 70's. It's been all cool rock and roll, punk, celtic punk, and all the billies. Heading to see The Creepshow and The Hellbound Hepcats in Victoria next week. HELL YAH!!! I'll be drinkin,I'll be drinkin. Part of my 50th celebration.

Listened to the RUSH album on youtube. Not half bad. I guess it's more important to prove they can still rock hard at their age than to write radio friendly tunes.

I don't know if you could ever label Rush as a band that has written radio friendly tunes, perhaps for a period in the early 1980's when Tom Sawyer, Limelight and Spirit of Radio were released only.

New World Man was actually their only top 20 Billboard hit. Clockwork Angels as an album reached Number 2. So album charting is more their strength.

Show last night was pretty awesome. Setlist was identical.

Yeah that's true and while it is one of their better known songs to be sure I don't think it falls into that "top" category with the Tom Sawyers or Closer to the Hearts.

I'm a big RUSH fan, but one issue I've had with them recently is they play a ton of their new material or material that most don't know (or like) at concerts. No offense to them, but most are there to hear their hits, not hear 9 songs off their new album. Of that 28-song set, I'm a fan of 15.

I realize that when you've put out 25-ish albums over 40 years, you can't please everyone, but how about play 3-4 songs off the new album and work in some hits from the 70s or anything else off Chronicles. Or any of the good singles, like "Show Don't Tell," "Test For Echo", "Roll The Bones", one of the better songs off Counterparts, etc.

I saw Motley Crue two summers ago and they essentially played their greatest hits with their hit from a 4 years ago, and honestly, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The audience knew every song and it rocked.

Sadly, when I saw RUSH in 2006 or 07, it was one of the lamer concerts I've been to as they tried to shove Snakes and Arrows down the audience's throat and for about 50 percent of the concert the crowd was bored to tears.

The Time Machine Tour was much better, but there was still a lull of about 5-7 songs to start the second set that was slow, but overall that concert was WAY better than S&A.

One of the worst and craziest nights of my life was at a Rush concert way back in my highschool days. It was at Varsity Stadium and we all sat drinking cans of beer in line outside for hours. Then once the concert started people went insane ripping up the grass field and having turf fights. By this time I was in such pain as my kidney was killing me. It wasn't until about five years later that the left side pain I'd had from the age of seven was finally discovered. I had my left kidney out right after graduating college. I left that Rush show early as the pain of a non functioning kidney after a bunch of beer was killer. Funny how I'm not a Rush fan. haha.
My Dr in those days was funny but a clue out. For 14 or 15 years he kept saying it was growing pains.
