Well I don't like what I'm hearing about sittings starters as I think we need to develop momentum. Plus please don't give Hamilton a sniff of the payoffs so they can come back a week later and turn their horrible season around in a big way.

I disagree. Need to be rested and healthy on November 11. Don't care about the Cats or their problems.

Keep Ray healthy. No need to have him exposed behind this OL in a meaningless game.

Here's another scenario for you - I'm a Hamilton TiCat. I realize that if I knock Ray out of the game then the Cats might just be able to punch their ticket to the Eastern Final. What do you think I might be willing to do.....?

Frankly I'd rather not take that chance. Ray was off for almost 4 games and came back better than ever. I don't think that he will lose that momentum by resting one more time.

Here's another question for everyone - do you let Owens go after the yardage record? What about getting him 4,000 yards. Do you let him do that?

Yah, when you put it like that, wow, we do need Ray to win. Hamilton might just try and take the extra shot or two. Who knows maybe Jackson comes up with a big win. I'd give Owens some reps. I'm not sure how much he needs at this point to hit 4 thou. I don't agree with sitting too many guys.

Why would the Ticats want to take a shot at Ray? What I mean is that wouldn't their own player be risking suspension for the playoff game?

I would sit out Ray, for the simple reason that the Boatmen have little to gain from this win aside from some momentum. I just do not want them to risk having Ray go down just b4 the playoffs start as anything can happen even if it is not a situation where someone is taking a shot at our QB. Owens is a diff story. I want to see the guy get the touches and have a legit shot at setting an Argo record. Its great for his carreer and great for the franchise as we have had little to ralley around as fans and this gives us a chance to see a little history potentially happen. I like Argoholics suggestion, let Owens hit the Number, set the record and then monitor his playtime from there. I think its the coaches responsibility at this point to try and win a game but also to make sure we are fully prepared for the playoffs. Hopefully everybody is happy after Thursday , except the pussy cats .

    Cool

I mentioned on another thread that the Argos should go all out to win their last game, giving themselves at least a respectable 9-9 record. I would like to reiterate that here. It is a matter of personal pride for the team. Or at least it should be. Without personal pride, confidence, and an ingrained sense of ferocity, no team is going anywhere in the playoffs.

    Ka 'Pla !

One could argue it's worth the risk losing a defensive player if your opponent loses their #1 QB.

A lot of people here are talking about building momentum, and I agree it's better to have as much of it as possible, but what's more important is making the adjustment to playoff football. The Riders ended the 1997 regular season with a 55-9 drubbing in Edmonton and then made it to the Grey Cup with an 8-10 record by winning two road playoff games, including the West final in Edmonton.

I hear what you're saying, Argolio, but I still think that annihilating the Ti-Cats, would be the best adjustment to Playoff Football, that I can think of. The game will definitely be a "playoff" game for the 'Cats, and I think we should treat it as such, as well. And Ricky Ray is not fragile. If some Defensive Lineman or blitzing Half-back gets too close, Ricky can always knee him in the "unmentionables", with his knee brace. Accidentally, of course.

    Cheers !

What made that Rider loss worse was that it was actually against a horrid Jeff Reinebold-coached Winnipeg team. That is a pretty good example, Argolio!

Never trust Wikipedia!!! I could have sworn that game was against Winnipeg at first, but the entry for "1997 Saskatchewan Roughriders" says Edmonton. Now I just checked the Blue Bomber entry and it says the game WAS against Winnipeg. Friday night game as I recall.

CFLAPEDIA says it was Winnipeg who defeated Saskatchewan 55-9 that game.

    WEEK EIGHTEEN

    FRIDAY OCTOBER 24

WINNIPEG 55, Saskatchewan 9 (30222) - Ronald Williams became just the fourth Bomber in team history to have a 200-yard game as he had 20 carries for 212 yards, as Winnipeg avoided their worst season in history.

    SATURDAY OCTOBER 25

Edmonton 30, HAMILTON 19 (16110) - Tony Burse's two TDs led the Eskimos to a lacklustre win, as the teams combined for four turnovers, 15 penalties and numerous blown assignments in the first half.

    SUNDAY OCTOBER 26

CALGARY 43, British Col 9 (24690) - Calgary mauled B.C. in the first half in taking a 33-0 lead into the break. Garcia showed no ill effects from a bum elbow as he went 15-for-22 in the first quarter for 187 yards and one TD.

MONTREAL 43, Toronto 38 (10801) - It was Montreal's first win in five regular season games over the defending Grey Cup champions in two years since the team moved north from Baltimore and was renamed the Alouettes.

Oh sitting up really high in the craziest steepest sits anywhere at Commonwealth in 97 was sweet. I would yell, "Drummond you run through that wheat", then my buddy Finn would yell, "Wheat can tackle". The Rider fans around us where pissed as Drummond ran wild. haha.

Your entitled to your opinion however,,

I don't ever want to hear in a few years that your upset the Argos haven't tried to groom a replacement for Ray.
If Harris has a great game, I don't want to hear from you that you think he's the future, and you better not buy his jersey.
When Reinders is pancaking everyone next season, I don't want to hear you ask why we didn't start him sooner.
    I could go on.

The team has turned around, we are in the playoffs, what the hell is everyones problem?

As you can see from the depth chart, we will be seeing many new faces on the defensive line and at linebacker for this game: http://cfl.uploads.mrx.ca/league/pdf..._HAM100309.pdf

I suspect that we will also see the likes of Feoli-Gudino and Tranks in the receiving corps as well.

AZ, I don't get it either. Sounds like some had a victory party planned after the Nov. 1st game. My victory party is in person on Nov.25th. Lets remember how easy Ray got injured and by who (one of his own). It can happen any time to any one, so one less opportunity for injury is ok with me.
