Are the Argos facing any significant injuries this week?

I see seven players listed on the website's injured list, but none seem to be that alarming.

For the Stamps, Juan Simpson sat out last week, but is expected back. His replacement, rookie Deron Mayo played extremely well. I do not believe we had any injuries against BC.

We have something like 20 on our injured list including a bunch of starters, but we have moved on and found replacements for them and have been winning without them for most of the season.

Patrick Watkins was the one starter who missed the Montreal game with a sprained ankle. I am guessing that he will return to the starting lineup to replace Jalil Carter this week but I don't know for sure. That is the only change that I see happening. I believe that Andre Durie was shaken up a bit early in the Montreal game and appeared to have his lower leg wrapped for much of the game but he still played quite well and have not heard anything about him not playing on Sunday. I am not aware of any other injuries.

Yeah we managed ot get through last Sunday ok from what I recall. Watkins should be back. Only the longer-term injuries (Wayne Smith with the torn tricep, etc.)

I believe the latest is that Watkins remains day-to-day.

In any case if he isn't reasonably close to 100% he shouldn't play.

Simpson is definitely going to play.

I guess that he was really nowhere ready to play last week.

The TV report I heard on Watkins is that his ankle is still bothering him and that he is day-to-day with the connotation that it is more likely he will not play than he will play. I would much prefer to see him in the game if he was close to 100% but it seems increasingly unlikely.

Watkins' replacement is Jalil Carter and he played very well last week and has generally played well when he was in the lineup earlier this season.

BTW, I too am getting the feeling that Watkins will not play this Sunday.

Watkins is out for tomorrow, according to the depth chart. The 42 will probably be identical to last week.

Watkins is a game time decision, I think. Sometimes the lineup changes at the last minute. I remember Mann/Barnes/Rambo would be listed as a starter at one time and then one would start over the other even though they were listed as a non starter.

No, Watkins isn't even on the 46; he's out. Obviously he wasn't even close to playing last week - we were just messing with Montreal.

They did say on TSN today that Watkins would not be playing on Sunday.

I bumped into an Argo defensive coach last night at the Convention Centre, I asked him about Watkins but he said he was not able to play...we will wait & see. I am confident of an Argo win regardless.

Just for the record: if you're not on the 46 man roster you can't play. I'm not aware of any exception to that rule.

Watkins is definitely not playing as he is on the one-game injured list. Wobbler is correct that the only way that a player can play at this point is if is on the 46 man roster.

Watkins is often lined up against the #1 or #2 receiver from the other team. The Argos do like Carter a lot but he doesn't have as much pro experience as Watkins does. However, the Argos seem to feel quite comfortable with Carter as the starter.
