    Argonauts add pair to defence

    ARGONAUTS.CA STAFF

MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that import DL Donte Paige-Moss has re-signed with the Club, and import LB Shane Horton, whose father once played for the Argonauts, has signed on.

Paige-Moss first signed with the Argonauts on October 5, 2012. He spent weeks 14-16 on the team’s practice roster, and dressed for week 17 in Saskatchewan and week 18 against Hamilton. He recorded one defensive tackle in each of those contests. He remained on the team’s practice roster during its championship post-season run. Paige-Moss was one of the most highly touted defensive prospects in the nation following his time at the University of North Carolina, and has also been a member of the UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions.

Shane Horton spent one year as a freshman at UNLV and three more at the University of Southern California where he lined up on defence with his younger brother, Wes, and current Argonauts all-star defensive lineman, Armond Armstead. Horton, who grew up in California, began his college career as a free safety but was switched to linebacker before his first season with the Trojans. His father, Myke, was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 1975 NFL Draft, but joined the Toronto Argonauts that same year. He played six games for the Double Blue before leaving the CFL. He returned to Canada in 1979 as a member of the Calgary Stampeders and played in 22 games over two seasons, being named a West Division All-Star in 1980. Myke later became known as “Gemini” in the popular American Gladiators television show.

The Argonauts also announced today that non-import DB Etienne Boulay has been released by the Club. Boulay joined the Argos on July 16, 2012 and played in 13 regular season games, recording 5 special teams tackle. He played in all three post-season games, including the 100th Grey Cup victory making one special teams tackle and one defensive tackle in the match.

Way to go Etienne. Got a second chance with the argos and was rewarded with another ring. 3 in 4 years now.

He is in the process of a divorce. He and the argos both agreed on his parting of ways and were very understanding of his family situation.

RDS writes he can re-join the team if he decides to resume his career. Like 294 said, he left for family reasons.

he was going to touch a big bonus in january if he decided to return and the argos were ready to take him back but etienne didn't feel right committing himself to another season until his family situation got resolved. that's the kind of guy he is. he mentioned in an interview that he was pretty distracted all year but he got a lot of support by fellow players and coaches who have been through a similar situation. if he does decide to return he wants to be back with toronto.
