    Flemons cut?

This is allegedly a tweet by Foley:

    Ricky Foley ‏@Foley4Real
I love this game &owe it so much but hearing @ronflemons 1of my best friends &teammates ever get cut?...I dunno man, no loyalty #argos #cfl

Flemons still shows on the roster, but it's entirely plausible, IMO. He did not have much of a season in 2012, at least to my lawyman's eyes, although I don't think he was nearly as useless as Area 51 claimed.

I saw him in the gym on Tuesday and looks like his twitter account is no longer as well (unless its just not working for me). Quality player IMO, numbers aren't everything but was a bit quiet this past season. Sad to see him go? Yes. In the cruel business of football am I surprised? No.

I can't say I am surprised if this is indeed true. There was a fall off in Flemons' play this year and I thought there was such a decline with Huntley too. Coming into the off-season, I expected at least one of them, if not both, to be let go.

I, too, am not shocked if this is true.

Paul, I thought that Flemons was actually one of the guys that Area 51 stayed away from (at least this year), he seemed to go after Kuale and David Lee more than Flemons.

I half-expected Flemons to retire after getting his ring. DE is a young man's position.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought he was very effective in 2012 while playing a more limited role.

Sad to see him go if it happens, but no one should be surprised. He's beaten the odds big-time having been a pro for ten+ years.

I could see him picked up by another team like Hamilton or Saskatchewan but sometimes these guys just disappear into the sunset and never resurface again. But then again I didn't expect Arland Bruce to be signed so quick especially from Montreal which seems to have solid depth at receiver.

I've always liked Flemons but felt his skills have slowly been declining during the last two years. Therefore I was not surprised when he was cut, especially when there are younger, cheaper possible replacements being churned out of the American college system all the time. However, I do salute his contributions to the Argos over the years.

Nothing on the Argos site as I just checked before coming on here. Oh well he hasn't been great the last few years. This stuff happens in pro sports. Could anyone see Geroy heading to Sask? This stuff happens. I trust our GM and coaches at this point, why wouldn't I?

On the Argo site one line from Barkers comments about Flemons read. These kinds of decisions are difficult but this move doesn't mean his time in Double Blue won't come again. WHAT? Will he be back for less money? Will he be back as some sort of coach?

Less money perhaps. If anyone remembers I beleve Adam Rita's last move as GM was the release of Jordan Younger and 2 weeks later he re-signed.

I too was very puzzled by Barker's comment. I don't see why you would cut a player and then later sign him again, when it is easy to renegotiate a contract. Maybe it's just Barker trying to appease the fan base and not impact season ticket sales, as we watch our GC winning defense being dismantled.

Like with Prefontaine, they are giving Flemons a chance to look elsewhere to see if he can get more money than the Argos can afford to pay him. If he can't, the door may still be open for his return.

And that makes a lot of sense Ravi. As Argolio mentioned, Flemons played better this past season, but also took less snaps. The Argos probably determined that as a rotation guy, he was making too much money. I bet they offered him a chance to return, but are letting him check out the open market.

Flemons had some very good moments in his career on the Argos D-Line and goes out a GC Champ !

Time to rebuild the Argos D-line i guess - will both Foley and Huntley be back? - or could it be 4 new guys having to man the D-Line?

Sure to be new signings and hopefully tough competition in TC - maybe another Armstead unearthed as a FA?

I hope Lee gets a shot at more playing time - he was IMO quite impressive in limited action; and maybe Cleon Laing shows for TC and can push for some playing time at DT? - the Argos could also maybe draft a DT from what looks like a strong crop this coming draft, and maybe that guy could pan out for some playing time too (in a platoon with Laing maybe) ; also a bunch of good DE prospects this draft; the Argos thinkers might be able to play 2 NIs on the D-Line = a stretch maybe in today's CFL "thinking" but certainly possible thru good recruiting and open TC competition.
