The jays staff would sit with the CFL/Argo staff and do their best to work out a viable schedule for the Argos, now Rogers give the Argos 11 dates and says to the Argos good luck
Since the Argos don't get any revenue from concessions, I say DO NOT BUY anything from the concession stands !!

I will not buy anything from now on !!

How about the field at Brebeuf school in Thornhill ? or John Candy's old school at Neil Mcneil? They are flag football champs this year.

    Just kidding.

I can live with Brebeuf. It would take me less than 5 minutes to get there.

It's us vs the rest of the country

They also had the old AstroTurf back then. The Blue Jays and the Argos had two separate playing surfaces and now there is one surface for both teams. All the logos and lines have to be added to and removed from the field for both teams which adds time to the conversion.

Good plan. Make the Argos less of an appealing tenant to the owners of the building as they will be bringing in less money for them.

It's not Rogers fault that Argo ownership or the CFL has never truly addressed the need for a new home for the team. Been over a decade since Sherwood brought up the issue with Lamport. All they do is talk and keep waiting for others do make a home for them.

But always easier for fans to blame the only place that gives a home for the team to play ... than those who could be truly at fault for this predicament.

Ron is 100% correct! I am happy Rogers is kicking us out... Time to get into a proper stadium with proper supply to meet the demand!

Well that's not entirely true. C&S did almost get a stadium built at Varsity, until U of T pulled out, and then again almost went in on a stadium at York until C&S pulled out. That was post Sherwood and 2001 as the York Stadium thing was in 2005.

Sure. You can build a small dome. North Dakota State University's Fargodome seats 19,000 for football. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fargodome

"The Fargodome is routinely ranked as one of the loudest college football stadiums in the country."

Only problem with building a small dome is that it would be very unlikely you would be able to add temp seats for Grey Cups.

Should you get an Argonaut only stadium it would have to be big enough to hold Grey Cup. Problem is that right now we have the best situated stadium in the league for Grey Cup. BC Place is a close second. Everyone from out of town can just walk to the downtown stadiums from their hotels.

Too bad it couldn't be in a downtown location and large enough that you don't have beg Rogers for use of the dome for Grey Cup.

I'm not holding my breath on a new stadium being built.

Toronto won't likely host another grey cup til 2020 so for that one game it could be held at Rogers. who knows? by then it might change name and become the Pizza Pizza Dome. lol.

You can always host the Grey Cup in Rogers, so all we really need is a small everyday dome.
It doesn't have to be dome but i don't see myself going to any/many games unless it's a dome. Might be only me though.

I heard Paul Beeston talk yesterday about the grass situation and it seems to me the only problem that will be if they do that is the time it takes changing the seats to a football game.
Which means it should be doable to keep both the Argos and the grass together.

Mark Cohon met Rider fans at a sportsbar in Regina

Mark Cohon tweeted to Rider fans that he'd be at a particular sportsbar in Regina Wednesday night for CFL chat and a drink... Rider Stronson (site admin at RF) asked Green Buddha to ask Cohon about the Argo's future in the concrete pimple:

Stronson's answer is...as follows, I told Mark that I had a question on behalf of Riderfans.com, he said and I quote" The Rogers Center will be renewing the contract with the Argos, and the team is currently looking at a location to build their own stadium, I believe that Rogers will act in good faith and know that many a CFL fan use Rogers on one way or another. The Argos will NOT be playing in university stadiums or any makeshift stadiums either. I hope that answers some questions for your friends on Riderfans, and by the way great football site". I replied" it is a great thing for this league having such an accessible Commish and hope you continue doing great thing for this league". ( any spelling mistakes are a direct result of beer and... Sorry in advance.
    i) nice of the boys at RF to care
    ii) interesting info from Cohon
iii) would be nice if Cohon ever cared extend the same sort of invite to Argo fans... but i won't hold my breath

interesting - echos my thoughts that I think they are a step ahead of us here in terms of planning their next move, just curious who is going to end up paying for it since we didn't get on the Pan Am Games spending spree. Either way good to hear and I agree that the Jays are just blowing smoke about the real grass at this point - i think they are several years away from a) making the changes to the skydome to accomodate this b) finding a strain of grass that can deal without sunlight for vast periods of time.

I agree it won't happen for a few more years but Rogers has boatloads of cash and as long as they are willing to spend it (which right now it appears they are) the grass will become a reality. I'm glad to read though that the Argos are looking to build their own facility. A stadium owned by the team would make things more financially sustainable. They could also build offices there and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a new training facility on the same grounds as well.
