Thanks for the reminder - I need to get my act together. My intention is to do something a bit different. The plan is to collect participants' choices for who we should draft when the Argos are on the clock, in real time, and publish the results here afterwards for future reference.

I don't think CFL mock drafts are terribly useful because few are interested and the results bear little resemblance to what actually happens. Asking people who they would have drafted once the event is over also has obvious limitations.

CFLHorsemen Update: 10 Year Team Draft Grades and 2013 Mock Draft

Today, I have updated the site with an evaluation of the first round of the draft from 2001-2010. The Argos wound up ranked #7! Check it out here:

    http://www.cflhorsemen.ca/first-roun...s-by-team.html

We also have unveiled Goal Digger's Mock Draft here:

    http://www.cflhorsemen.ca/2013-cfl-mock-draft.html

I see that the CFL.ca site has released their CFL Scouting Bureau April Rankings here:

    http://www.cfl.ca/article/cfl-scouti...april-rankings

They've also posted a mock draft here:

    http://www.cfl.ca/page/justin-dunks-...mock-draft-v10

Interesting to see the different speculation in who will go where in the draft!

Interest in the CFL Draft has come along way compared to a number of years ago; and the internet/info age has a lot to do with it. Mind you, the CFL draft was televised back around late 80s or early 90s (?) (and Homer Simpson was known to watch it ;o)).

Mock drafts can be fun I guess, but I've long ago given up even attempting to predict what CFL teams are thinking on this; always good for some surpirse, interesting or iffy to downright bizzarre & baffling picks IMO.
So you agree with the CFL.ca list and Duane Forde's list? How about your own list, that's what these boards are for.

Thank you for that link Midnight Blue; i see Rids has provided a link to a post made by that fine (;o)) Riderfans. commentator CC Ryder on his draft prospects thoughts.

Agree with Wobbler that mock drafts are tough and usually bare little resemblance to reality; as far as who the Argos could/should go after - given their draft position and ratings of prospects: 8th overall - either a DE or DT or an O-Lineman - the guy they like best at whichever still on the board; 17th overall - an O-Lineman if they get a D-Lineman with first pick, or if there are no good O-Lineman still, a future safety prospect; 26th overall - a safety prospect if they got an O-Lineman already, or else a receiver.

Later rounds sleepers (love to see the Argos get): Laval DT J-A Bernier (injury issues - not at the E-Camp, but a big 300 pounder force on a very good Laval D); DB Cam Wade (Acadia) (fairly high rated DB and a CIS all-star but could fall to later rounds); receiver Simon LeMarquand (Ottawa) ( good size, some excellent E-Camp testing #s and one big CIS receiving season to go by)

Here's another mock draft with comments on the players .....

    http://www.cisblog.ca/2013/04/footba...ock-draft.html

On looking at this... I wouldn't doubt that Barker picks the OL from Iowa..Nolan MacMillan.... Isn't Iowa the school where he knew some of the coaches?

Interesting to see that of the 7 Canadians snapped up thus far, by NFL teams this past weekend, 4 are from CIS schools.
Wilson to Seahawks via the draft
Charles and Sewell signed to Titans
Hus (Regina Rams) to St Loius Rams
    Mulumba to Packers
    Prime to the Colts
Daigular has rookie camps with Bucs this weekend and the Jets the following weekend.

So we start re-writing our mock drafts in a week?

If I am not mistaken, NFL teams now have expanded training camp rosters so that definitely does no favours to the CFL.

So that is another 320 players that are unavailable to the CFL including some of those CIS players that have been signed as free agents.

And I think the NFL has eliminated or reduced two-a-days in camp, so that seems to work against having a bigger camp roster.

    Player Penalty Totals

In case you are interested, I have tabulated the player penalties for each team, and put together a list of the league's top penalty takers. I always wanted these stats to be released, and so I finally went through and compiled them myself. They are pretty interesting. Look here:

A coincidence that the four least penalized teams are the best teams in the league? One of the areas the Argos needed to improve was their discipline and while they are 4th in times penalized they have are #1 for fewest yards penalized.

That's lot of work - thanks and don't quit now - it's great info. Interesting to see that 5 of the top 10 penalized players are on the Als defence. That kind of lack of discipline can get a coach fired - oh, you say they already fired Hawkins ?

CFLHorsemen Update: REDBLACKS Expansion Mock Draft

I know every CFL fan can't wait to see what is going to happen for the upcoming REDBLACKS Expansion Draft. I am no different, and as soon as I saw the release of the free agent lists, almost uncontrollably, I started to assemble the protected lists for each team and conduct a draft. You can see all of my work here. It took several hours to compile and I hope you appreciate the effort.

I suspect that there will be different ideas that what I presented and so I encourage you to let me know how I did in my first ever Expansion Mock Draft. Hopefully we will have a few more of these in the upcoming years.

I know that you can only go by the available information but we keep hearing that Khalif Mitchell will be headed to the NFL this off-season although he isn't listed on the free agent list. With that in mind, I would assume that Mitchell will not be protected. Also, I doubt that Jalil Carter will be protected given that he was benched at the end of the season and for the most important game of the season. Finally, if it is a choice between protecting Jermaine Gabriel and Matt Black, I suspect that the Argos will protect the younger Gabriel over Black. Thanks for all of the work you have done here!
