Chris Williams is feuding with Ticats

It sounds like he may be holding out: http://www.torontosun.com/2013/03/13...ding-with-team

This would be a devastating loss for Hamilton.

i think he's just posturing for an improved deal and using his friend (who Obie allegedly promised a camp invite) as a convenient excuse...

...but yeah, let's hope he's legit pissed at them.

Didn't Owens want out of Montreal because their contract wasn't enough so they cut him?

If Williams is only making $60K, that's pretty sorry the Ti-Cats didn't try to restructure his deal in the offseason for more. Offer him a 2-year deal worth $100K each year. If he refuses it, they could always say, "Hey, we offered."

Owens got traded actually. I believe it was for a 4th round pick. He was on the PR and had a young family with him so the weekly amount wasn't enough (I would assume). I won't say he held out, it was more about getting a chance to start and obviously a player on the active roster gets paid more than a PR player. That's how I see it, much different situation IMO.

Williams, a multi purpose threat reportedly earned $60,000 last season, while a very ordinary 1 dimensional teammate Andy Fantuz made like $150,000? I can see a problem there.

Last off season, didn't Johnathan Hefney of Winnipeg sound off on twitter too but yet it all got resolved & he played the season? I suspect this Williams situation will work itself out too.

Not sure from who....I just don't see Fantuz as being the player he was pre-NFL tryout. His numbers were so so, but the way he played without the ball cost the Ti-Cats a few costly turnovers.

I don't blame Williams for holding out. He's easily a $90-$100K salary expectation, and not a risky one at that.

I'm sure Andy's place of birth has something to do with his pay cheque. Just saying....

I remember having a ti-cats fan in front of me at the first Ti-Cats game last season and me making a few lines about fantuz being overpaid, a hack, costing the team, etc. etc. The Tabby fan basically agreed with me and actually joined in with my fantuzzzzzzzzzzzzzz chirps near the end when he dropped a pass. thought it was pretty funny anyways.

To a degree, but it's not like he had no CFL pedigree at all before signing in Hamilton. And though most people thought he had a disappointing season, he still put up 971 yards and 8 TDs.

I think he ended up being a bit of a scapegoat in the eyes of some for the Ticats problems this past season even though their atrocious defense was and should remain the main culprit.

Actually, I think Fantuz makes closer to $190K. Fantuz's passport dictates he should make more, but to continue to pay Williams $60K would be pretty dumb.

This is interesting and life in the CFL. Williams deserves more cash due to his performance, but he still has one year left in contract. If the Cats offer him 100 000+, he's stuck here for two more years and he thinks he's NFL bound. So what does he do? Sit the year out? I say, honour your contract or accept a raise. If it wasn't for the CFL, he would have never been talking NFL. frustrating for Cats fans I'm sure.

That botched snap on a potential game-winning FG in Calgary did not help Fantuz win any favours with Ticat fans either.

As an old school guy I agree in honour your contract and don't burn bridges. He could end up being a one hit wonder and fall off the face of the football world. He has dreams of being an NFL'er but that might not pan out. He's fun to watch and I hope things work out for him in the CFL. They could trade him to Calgary. My second fav team.

I felt bad for him on that play. Very poor conditions that night in Calgary, could have happened to any holder. I seem to recall Fantuz going offsides that would negate a 1st down more than once last season.
