It sounds like he may be holding out: http://www.torontosun.com/2013/03/13...ding-with-team
This would be a devastating loss for Hamilton.

Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
At least the Argos got the character dude in Owens and not this tool.
Didn't Owens want out of Montreal because their contract wasn't enough so they cut him?
If Williams is only making $60K, that's pretty sorry the Ti-Cats didn't try to restructure his deal in the offseason for more. Offer him a 2-year deal worth $100K each year. If he refuses it, they could always say, "Hey, we offered."
Owens got traded actually. I believe it was for a 4th round pick. He was on the PR and had a young family with him so the weekly amount wasn't enough (I would assume). I won't say he held out, it was more about getting a chance to start and obviously a player on the active roster gets paid more than a PR player. That's how I see it, much different situation IMO.
Williams, a multi purpose threat reportedly earned $60,000 last season, while a very ordinary 1 dimensional teammate Andy Fantuz made like $150,000? I can see a problem there.
Last off season, didn't Johnathan Hefney of Winnipeg sound off on twitter too but yet it all got resolved & he played the season? I suspect this Williams situation will work itself out too.
I don't blame Williams for holding out. He's easily a $90-$100K salary expectation, and not a risky one at that.
I remember having a ti-cats fan in front of me at the first Ti-Cats game last season and me making a few lines about fantuz being overpaid, a hack, costing the team, etc. etc. The Tabby fan basically agreed with me and actually joined in with my fantuzzzzzzzzzzzzzz chirps near the end when he dropped a pass. thought it was pretty funny anyways.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
This is interesting and life in the CFL. Williams deserves more cash due to his performance, but he still has one year left in contract. If the Cats offer him 100 000+, he's stuck here for two more years and he thinks he's NFL bound. So what does he do? Sit the year out? I say, honour your contract or accept a raise. If it wasn't for the CFL, he would have never been talking NFL. frustrating for Cats fans I'm sure.
As an old school guy I agree in honour your contract and don't burn bridges. He could end up being a one hit wonder and fall off the face of the football world. He has dreams of being an NFL'er but that might not pan out. He's fun to watch and I hope things work out for him in the CFL. They could trade him to Calgary. My second fav team.
