Most overrated starting import and non-import?

    In the CFL...

    Import: Probably Geroy Simon.

    Non-Import: Sam Giguere

Hmm. I'm not very good with league-wide questions because I focus almost exclusively on the Argos' roster. Oh well.

Import: Anthony Calvillo. His play, while still very good over all, has become increasingly unreliable. His legacy is secure, but his play is increasingly inconsistent with the level of praise he is accorded.

Non-import: Jon Cornish. He's a very good back, but not entirely deserving of the adulation, IMHO. If you gave me that many carries... I'd be in the hospital right now. But seriously, Calgary gave him the ball a lot.

Import: Henry Burris? Just seems he can never get the job done. He has good seasons statistically but then has a few games where he blows it. Anyone on SSK is overrated, their fans act like they have a dream team every season.

Non-Import: Fantuz gets a lot of hype and $$$ so I would think he is heavily overrated. Ricky Foley (with an exception of the GC). The schemes didn't suit his style of play so maybe this isn't warranted but at the end of the day you pay a DE to get sacks, plus his and A51's attitude doesn't help.

That's the best you can do ??? - 2 of the most proven players in the league with Calvillo a sure-fire HOFer ???

You might need to check Cornish's career CFL stats including his outstanding yards / carry average; plenty of RBs get the ball lots, but basically NONE in the past few decades have produced at the rate Cornish has; sorry the guy is one of the best RBs the CFL has seen in some time - import or NI; if he somehow qualifies as over-rated, must be because some don't like to see the hype that goes with being a top player in any league/sport; BUT - if your criteria for over-rated involves players getting lots of or too much recognition, then it's a free for all for sure: I'll add Ricky Ray and Chad Owens to the list then.

Gotta agree with OVA. Calvillo and Cornish were nowhere near my list. I'll take that backfield any day of the week.

    Import: Dwight Anderson

Non Import: Jon Cornish. He gets over rated attention just because he's a non import. If he was an import he'd be a "meh" running back to most people.

Import: Darian Durant (because rider fans give the most hype in the cfl)

    NI : Andy Fantuz

I have to disagree re Cornish. He's far from "meh," IMO. Definitely one of the top backs in the league the last couple of seasons, with a good combination of speed, power and route running.

I agree with PW13. Cornish is not overrated, and IMO is as good as any RB in the league.

Based on salary alone, I would go with Ian Logan fro NI (was he really making 120k last year?)
For Imports, I can agree on Dwight Anderson.

How does he compare to Tom Clements, AV?
Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

Import - Darian Durant, who in my opinion is the league's only #1 QB who doesn't show enough leadership & ability to be a starter.
Non-import - Chris Bauman, although his stock has fallen in the last couple years, he's just one of those athletes with enough size & ability to be a good one. Unfortunately, he fails to live up to any level of expectation.
Support CFL league & team sponsors by buying their stuff!!!

Not as good, but not as overrated either. I truly believe that no CFL QB threw as many passes into the flat that went for 6 the other way than Tom Clements. We have the Carl Brazley one in '83, and I have a CFL '87 tape in which he threw 2 identical to it. I truly believe he was very overrated, and with the exception of Hamilton, just always seemed to have very good teams around him. IMO, Hollaway, Brock, Dewalt were all better than he was.

Ha, ha - good one; but if Cornish was an import - he'd probably be rated one of the best RBs the CFL has seen in decades; but being a Canadian playing a position that most CFL blow-hards see as rightfully being reserved for Americans, he's bound to get not enough respect - just the way the good ole CFL works.

IMO, Bauman has been way overrated for years. All he ever had was size.
Despite playing in all 18 games for the Ticats the season before signing with the Eskimos he only "recorded 298 receiving yards, 17 receptions and three touchdowns. He also had five catches and a team-leading 108 yards in a loss to Toronto in the CFL East Division semifinal." (http://www.cfl.ca/article/bauman-hea...igns-with-esks)
I think the Eskimos put too much stock in his having one very good game in the playoffs This shows the danger of such an approach to rating talent. I was shocked when I heard what he got.

"Terms of Bauman's new deal were not released, but reports had indicated he could collect a salary as high as $125,000 on the open market."(http://www.torontosun.com/sports/foo.../17186476.html)

Yes, after one season of being a fulltime starter, I'm sure people would be lauding him as the next Walter Payton if he had a different passport.

I would put Sam Giguere at the top of my list, former 1st rounder with NFL experience.
He was absolutely brutal last year!!

i know....isnt it horrible that a Canadian is finally getting praise for an american dominated sport? i would think Canadians would be proud of this...
