Could we finally see him in Double Blue? Let's hope.

He might get looks but I believe he'll be priced out by younger, cheaper rookies who can play STs & fill in as a backup.

If he comes to the Argos, he could be the 7th NI starter, but more likely later than immediately.

I guess Greenwood is no longer a marginal Chiefs player.

I wish there was someone on this board who less than a year ago said there was a good chance Greenwood didn't make it to year 4 with the Chiefs.

Greenwood would be a great replacement for Foley. Hopefully some of the Argonaut high draft picks from the recent past actually show up and play for them, would be a welcomed boost for the defence!!

picked up on waivers by the Lions... we'll see if he sticks and/or if the Lions want a Pensionable player as a backup/ST'er.

Greenwood will of course hope for other NFL looks; maybe he sticks with the Lions? - if not - I hope the Argos would go hard after him - half-way decent CFL signing bonus, decent CFL rookie contract (for a NI), and told he is valued as a guy who could compete right away for the starting MLB job - might sway his mind a bit as opposed to a CFL minimum wage starting contract and told he might play special teams.

3 year already though on NFL rosters and earning more than pretty well all CFL players; not bad for a guy some experts thought had no hope to play in the super-heroes only NFL, or who would be with the Argos after a year or so after being drafted by them.

and he, as a very good ST guy, is trying out for a team who's STs sucked eggs.

Doesn't sound like you have much to worry about regarding any lack of respect that Barker may have for Greenwood as he raves about him in this article: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/spo...206030981.html

Maybe Barker will be leaning towards NCAA (or CIS) players - this draft - who are considered top CFL prospects, but might have an NFL shot - , Charles, or one of a number of NCAA Juniors (that Ottawa could take) - "best player" and regardless of if the Argos may have to wait ahwile (or never) for them to show-up? Be interesting on Monday - we shall see.

Greenwood, Laing, Tonye-Tonye, Wilson and whoever this draft - showing up for the Argos at some point? - hope so; OTOH/meanwhile - make some good picks of other very good players who will show-up to compete in TC - easily do-able each and every CFL draft IMO, and in the mid to late rounds too.

He's 27 and picked up off waivers hours after being released so your a little early bragging about yourself

You said the Chiefs had big plans for Greenwood. Was getting cut part of those big plans? 34 tackles in 48 games. Dude was not the key part of the team you were arguing him to be.

Now go back to making up stuff Jim Popp said on the radio.

With his years in the NFL and his 48 games in the league, means he now has a NFL pension and must be paid over 615,000 per year. You can get a rookie or second year player a lot cheaper. So it's not that Cory can't still play in the NFL, but the union agreement may just screw him and he ends up in the CFL. I'm sure he will demand 200,000 per year in the CFL

No chance of him getting that. If his NFL options are ever done, and he wants to continue playing football, his first contract will likely be about 100k, perhaps even less. Just because he has played ST's in the NFL, doesn't guarantee CFL success. The casual fan likely doesn't even know who he is, so it's not like his signing would create a huge spike in ticket sales.

I read in, I believe, a Canadian Press article that Greenwood is three games away from that pension. That makes sense as I don't believe the players qualify for the pension unless they have been on an NFL roster for at least three games of their fourth season. That would be one of the reasons why Greenwood would want to stay south of the border at this point.

And another reason a lot of quality players become available to the CFL after year 3.

Yep, I seem to recall more than a few CFL players who came up three games short of their NFL pension. I am pretty sure that Robert Drummond was one of those.

Dave Dickenson was another who missed the pension by exactly 3 games.

??? - Dickenson was only in the NFL for one season as a 3rd stringer on the Chargers - or am I recalling wrong?
