I was listening to an interview with Mark Cohon on 900 CHML at halftime of the Riders-Ticats debacle yesterday and he said that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers board will make a recommendation in the fall as to whether they wish to move to the western conference or stay in the eastern conference. You know for all this talk that the Blue Bombers should be in the west they have been in my lifetime (1987) in the west only for five seasons.

    Cool

    Winnipeg is west of Kenora.

They have always been a Western team.

Like, what the hell are they thinking?

Are they ascared of facing their traditional Western rivals?

The Gods Of Football, nor myself, are not impressed....

It's not just the financial end but the PR and the sports acumen of running a franchise in the National Capital region which will make this team a success...Ottawa is an excellent football city, always was, grass roots through its' minor football is huge in the area and Carlton has just restored its' football program back to join Ottawa U in the CIS...The only stain on Ottawa football was how the CFL franchise was run, and that had more to do with foreign owners and less to do with local support...considering how bad they were, and for how long, the team was supported.

Not to disagree with you, but I was more talking about the actual competiveness of Ottawa's CFL teams over the last 3 decades. When is the last time an Ottawa CFL team has had a winning record or won a playoff game. Hint it was well before Chen or the Gleibermans. Hopefully things change this time.

Yes please send them back west. Their stench here is atrocious. What a stinker tonight against Calgary.

GREAT!!! Best part of our drive across during our move was the bypass around The Pig. Only issue was it took too long. Too bad Brandon didn't have a team as it's actually nice.

Glad to see the league did the right thing and respected well over half a century of tradition by returning the Bombers to their rightful home.

    Hear, Hear !

Everything West of Kenora, is West. Actually I believe this because a friend originally from Winnipeg told me so.

Between Kenora, Ontario, and the Manitoba border is no-man's land (actually it's beautiful country --- even if there's no there, there).

    Cheers !

You can talk about tradition all you want but they probably hurt their chances of being competitive even more with the move. The West division is a lot tougher than the East is, which the Bombers are at the bottom of this season. Things can change from season to season but I still like my odds of competing in the East more.

I know that the Blue Bombers are a "traditionally" western team, but for my generation they've actually been an eastern team most of the time since I was born in 1987. I prefer them in the west myself, but it's actually interesting to look back and see how little time they've actually spent in the west in the past 25 years.

Yes, but they were in the west for their first 61 years of existence. And Winnipeg (despite being geographically central) is clearly in Western Canada.

I was born in 1973, and I still have to double think about Winnipeg being in the East, even though they've spent the majority of my football conscience life in the East. They belong in the West, and are going back, thank god. I've hated every moment that Winnipeg has been in the East.

The Argos have had some terrific battles with the Blue Bombers over the years with them playing in the east. They've broken our hearts a few times in eastern finals and we've done the same to them a couple of times.
