If Montreal does not defeat the Eskimos then we know they are truly doomed. There may be CONSEQUENCES if that occurs.

And the last thing the Ticats need is another game with the Riders.

I wouldn't expect anything less but a 100% desire from Anthony Calvillo. However, it seems that he isn't able to control what's going on around him as effectively as he once did.

It is hard to believe that talent is the problem in Montreal. That seems to be as good as ever. Hawkins seems like a real character which I like but I just don't know if he has what it takes to coach in this league or not. Perhaps he should have assembled a staff with more CFL experience - on the offensive side in particular. Regardless, I still expect the Als to beat Edmonton this week.

If they don't we might be seeing Maciocia back in the fold. He was the media's choice.

I can't see Maciocia leaving that plum post at the U of Montreal, especially as he pulled himself from the running for the Als' job this past winter but I suppose that anything is possible. I was thinking the other day that the Als would have been in much better shape if Trestman had left a year earlier. They could have just promoted Milanovich who would be running that team, instead of the Argos, with Brady and Jones.

Als got lucky. I thought they should have gone for it on 3rd and goal, especially the way they were running the ball. A converted TD puts the game out of reach.

The end of that game bothered me for a couple of reasons. Firstly, as you mentioned, Argolio, the Als should have gone for it on third and one at the Esks' one yard line with a little over a minute left in the game. You have to play to win in Canadian football instead of playing not to lose. Even if they had not made it there, the Esks would have had to travel a long way for a shot at the game winning field goal. Secondly, we saw again at the end of the game how QBs today cannot manage the clock and that bothers me to no end. IMO, this is a symptom of the overcoaching of our game today. Fifteen, twenty, thirty years ago, QBs knew how to manage that clock and would have easily gotten at least two plays off in the situation Reilly was in down at the Montreal one yard line with 14 seconds to go. Today, QBs are so overprogrammed with the coach talking to them in their helmets that they can't do any decision-making for themselves.

I thought you were going to question whether the ball-carrier (McCarty?) scored on the second-last play, and why it wasn't reviewed.

Did the Esks have a timeout? If so, there was no excuse not to use it before the last play.

Reed blew his final timeout when his ill-advised challenge of Whyte's punt a few minutes earlier did not work. The ball-carrier on the previous play did not score IMO. The Esks still should have had two plays to win that game though. Lack of clock management ability is one of my pet peeves and we saw an exhibition of it tonight. It drives me crazy to see that!
