What is wrong with the Ticats this year?

Every year we keep thinking that the Argos and Ticats will battle it out for top spot in the East and every year we are disappointed because one team or the other or both fail miserably. The Ticats, in particular, have been preseason favourites of many for the last four years but have never lived up to expectations and haven't so far this season. So what is the problem in Hamilton this year? Should they have retained Cortez and just tried to rebuild the defence? Is it that they have too many injuries? Is it recruiting? Is it the offensive and defensive lines? Is it Burris? Is it Austin? Is it the lack of a running game? Is it Chris Williams' absence? Can the Ticats rebound from this 1-4 start and still be contenders in 2013?

As we see in Saskatchewan ... Cortez is perty smart when it comes to offense. Austin is a good coach but his offenses were never at Cortez level.

Other than that you had a Cats team that needed a defensive upgrade but also ended up with a new HC that had his own offensive ideas. So we have what we have.

Asking if they miss a CW is like asking if we'd miss a Chad Owens but I'd argue they've been hit hard by injuries and Burris ain't a QB who can raise the play of others. (Like a Ray or Calvillo for example) But if CW was there ... they would not have another win.

Can they turn it around? Sure. It won't take much to get 2nd in the East this season and from there is a crap shoot.

Injuries are a factor, being displaced in Guelph for the season can't be easy, but every offseason they go out and spend big $$$ for some one to turn around the franchise. Firing George Cortez was not a smart move. This team simply has no patience.

I'd be tempted , as most fans here probably would, to not care. That said, argos need a win or they're only a game ahead.

Stadium change, regime change, and they're still rebuilding what was a historically bad defense in 2012.

And I hate to say it but maybe the Riders really are that good.

Yeah, I must admit that I can't see any weaknesses on that team at the moment. The best move Saskatchewan made this off-season was bringing George Cortez in as offensive coordinator.

Riders most likely won't lose a game for the next two or three years.

Now you're talking crazy! Everyone knows they won't lose a game for the next two to three decades.
