The Argos website confirms that he was released today. He was listed as the starter for tonight's game on the depth chart as of yesterday. I'd be interested to know the reason(s) behind this.

The only recent mention of Jackson in the media is from the U.S. a few days ago:
"Another trait binding the states is troubled stars. Ryan Perrilloux was suspended from the LSU football team as a sophomore before being kicked off as a junior. He finished his college career at Jacksonville State, where he also had disciplinary actions taken against him. Janzen Jackson was on his way to stardom at Tennessee before being arrested for armed robbery as a freshman and then dismissed following his sophomore season for undisclosed reasons. He finished his career at McNeese State.
Both are in the Canadian Football League. Most -- including Farrell -- expected NFL fame."

Is it possible he did something really bad in the space of 24 hours to get released? I don't like speculating on something like a player's character so that's why I'm eager to know what happened.

starter in the Montreal game, released yesterday - any story to this one that the average fan like myself doesn't know about?
Why can't Argo fans get the real reason for these types of transactions? I would be interested in knowing more.
It's not just Argo fans who don't get that kind of info. Teams in all sports rarely tell the "truth" when a release is related to bad behaviour (which I'm not suggesting this one is). One reason is that it is very easy to be sued for libel if you accuse someone of wrongdoing.
Here's the answer on Jackson:
the first 6-8 weeks of the CFL season is devoted to finding players that fit for us and what we do...you will see players come and go rather often...we are not afraid to make moves once we feel a player is not a fit

Barker politely declined to answer the question. Oh well. (shrug)
I pretty much got the response I expected when I asked the question.

I don't think it was vague at all. I took it as being an overall fit, and not just on the field. It's pretty obvious to me that his off field attitude or behaviour is the reason he was released, and there really is no need to go into detail about that.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Are you daring to question the team `thinkers`here ... É
I guess that is one way to approach your roster; another way would be to evaluate very carefully and well during TC when you have tons of players to go by, and then select a roster you have faith in ... with some players moving up or down from the roster to 46 to IR to PR, depending on how they play and injuries.
The whole CFL air-lift mode where thing they bring new import guys in and hand them playing time after being in town a day or two always smacked of desperation and poor coaching to me, plus a slap in the face to other players who have worked hard from TC on in but get no real shot to play.
Played 5 games in 2013 before being released for "football reasons", now charged with murder. Looking back his release was rather odd.

That's a damned shame. It's startling to think that he killed someone three weeks after we let him go.
