I went to Riderfans to see how he was reacting to the Riders' skid, and whadda ya know -- he has been banned.

Not stunned. Even when they were winning they weren't too crazy about him over there. Everyone knew who he was, too.

I miss Area 51. He added some life.
I still troll on that site. The key is message dispersal in their jungle of threads.
Grey cup 106. Newer and bluer meanies
I wonder how Ricky's Dad (brother) would have reacted to the Riders getting Alex Hall, and maybe taking some playing time away from his hero.
Anyhow - the Argos might have got Hall too - in a much bigger area of need than the Riders (already have Foley & Chick at DE); but i guess the Riders are more desperate to get to the GC; another thread i realize - but the Bombers got hosed IMO in that deal (contract or NI status included)- they traded away a top DE in the league for a mediocre and unproven O-Lineman (they already have a few of those), plus they moved down in the draft in that deal - I was glad to see the Bombers go with some Canadian football people (Miller & Walters) to help run their team (over the same old ignorant American types), BUT - that was a dumb trade because they did not get near enough value.
The market determines value, so obviously there wasn't much of a market for Hall.
The Riders' interest is easy to understand, and apparently the other playoff teams are content with their current rosters (and payrolls). Should Winnipeg have held out longer, hoping that Sask would get more desperate or that someone else would lose a DE? Maybe, but after the Riders rebounded from their tailspin this week taking what was available might have been the best move for the Bombers.
The Bombers got something for a guy who is of no use to them this season and is almost certainly going to sign somewhere else next year. Considering there were just a few days left to the trade deadline, I think they did about as well as they could.
I agree with you on the flip of draft choices...that made no sense to me and I doubt as if omitting it would have killed the deal. Sad to say..because I personally think he's an idiot...but Taman pulled a fast one on the rookie Walters. Take away the draft flip, and the trade makes sense for the Bombers.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Surprisingly I am taking a course taught by former York Football coach, Tom Gretes. After doing some research on his time at York I have found a CIS forum where Area 51 just criticizes him nonstop. Supposedly Gretes and Foley didn't get along, A51 was even upset how Ricky doesn't get full control on the D. Looks like his univeristy coaches weren't big on letting him pass rush. Strange how Jones wasn't the only one.
