True. Its not something to be proud of. Its the biggest hurdle the league and team must overcome. But you know as well as I know that even though no one talks about it, and even though no one admits it, people, whoever they are, are watching it. But its not like CFL is porn, and even though it may be treated like it right now, imagine the hurdle if there weren't even any closet fans. Its easy to be an NFL fan in this city, and not easy to be a CFL fan.
I'm sure that they are, but you and I aren't the people that need influencing. I still think as long as there is a sort of air of secrecy on the numbers then the haters will continue to hate. Heck, I'd bet that even if the TV numbers were shoved in their face they'd still find an excuse.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB

With an avg. of almost 900,000 viewers, the @SSKRoughriders vs. @TorontoArgos game last Saturday was the most-watched #CFL game this season.

Before the cynics chime in with "it was only a bunch of Rider fans watching"...the Riders two previous games averaged only 575,000 viewers, so there must have been a lot of Toronto fans watching the Argos win!
The Argos are also big in the U.S. with season high ratings on ESPN2:
ESPN2 Hits New Season-High For CFL
Monday’s Argonauts/Tiger-Cats Canadian Football League game drew 235,000 viewers on ESPN2, the network’s most-watched telecast of the season (nine telecasts). The previous high was set last Thursday by Lions/Blue Bombers (201K). (via ShowBuzz Daily)
Saturday prime time probably helped boost the numbers a bit as well.
I'm not trying to be cynical but I really wish they would show regional break downs for these ratings. I don't doubt people are watching but it would be nice to see how many and from where exactly. How many Rider fans live in Ontario also? I highly doubt all that sea of green traveled from the motherland and I'm sure many living in Ontario were watching.
Sas/to 874,000
mtl/ott 667,000
edm/bc 590,000
wpg/ham 545,000
I know some people don't like TSN, but I think they do a hell of a job with their broadcasts, and that's from watching online, espn3.
It will be interesting to see the numbers tonight for the Argos game .....as well as the blue jays game.
This is very concerning IMO.

Lowest rated game since pre Sept 2009 (when the ppm became part of the new ratings system).8. CFL, Redblacks at Argos, Sunday, TSN: 324,000
As long as the Argonauts are up head-to-head against the Blue Jays and the latter remain in contention then, unfortunately, that is just going to be the reality of the situation.
