To be fair the TFC game was on Sportsnet360 as opposed to a main station. Then again the UFC preliminaries drew 137,000 on the same network, so I'm not sure how to interpret that.

There is nothing to be fair about TFC, no one watches this stuff save and except family and friends.
As for the CFL numbers, week to week it amazes.

Wow, we should all be so lucky to have 18-20 thousand friends come see us 15-20 times a year. If the Argos had a legitimate 20,000 paid in their building every single home game, I don't think anyone would see the situation to be in such crisis mode as we all do right now. Slagging TFC isn't going to change that....and I know for a long time I slagged them and the league they play in as much as anyone. I was wrong. I know I wish I can say that I see as many people walking around Toronto wearing Argos swag as I do TFC swag..but I don't.

I can't understand TFC's low viewership. They beat the Argos in almost every other facet, (internet and radio presence, print media, attendance, merchandise, etc, etc), but few watch on TV. It almost seems impossible to compute. Almost as weird, is the Argos ghost like presence in everything, except the huge TV numbers.

I guess the Argos have a "porno watching" following,(Jim Hunt), and TFC have captured the "be seen, this is in, fad crowd."

I honestly think that soccer just isn't a great sport to watch on TV. Football is. I wouldn't use TV ratings as the be all and end all of popularity.

Well I don't believe so, because I am a fan of the sport, but any excuse is plausible. Even if that were true, TFC's current profile should be drawing over 100 000 every game. CP vs NewCastle drew that, LOL. 22 000 is embarrassing. That is literally people forgetting to change the channel from the previous show, it's that low. Media would be calling to fold the Argos immediately, if they ever dropped to that level.

Not true. What you mention is being forced upon us by the mega machine of MLSE and not due to popularity.
Popularity is reflected in the TV viewership where here in Toronto, yes that's right is proven every game how the Argos do awesome numbers.

Did I say anything about TV Ratings in the post that you quoted? The media at large generally only reports on the positive in regards to TFC and ignores the negative.

Great then perhaps you can help me out with something. Most Forums that I post on have a feature that allows you to Block other members so that you don't see their Posts. This site doesn't seem to have that feature. Would it be possible to add it?

However, the TFC marketing machine can be contrubuted to the ownership of MLSE. If, and when MLSE ever does buy the Argos you will see Argos merchandise pop up everywhere. The tone on how the Argos is covered by the media will also change. The guys that cover TFC for the Sun, are almost cheerleaders for the club and they make no apologies for it, as they say they are trying to grow the sport in this country. It's 3rd and long boys,and are only hope i fear, is MLSE buying this club
