I also got that the Argos will be on the road for a bit during the start of the season. My guess is that is because of a retro-fit. MLSE will own the Argos. Braley is the problem but the deal will get done.

If am wrong I will host a tailgate where we end up for the ACTIVE current members on this form.
I really hope that this is Not true! MLSE sucks and so does BMO Field and it's location.

MLSE will run the Argonauts into the ground just like they've done with all their other sports teams and the Argonauts will be at the bottom of the MLSE pecking order.

Not to mention that MLSE wants an NFL team first and foremost.

Obviously you are referring to their on-field performance, because financially the two largest MLSE teams are hugely successful. Leafs are the top-ranked team in valuation by Forbes and make scads of money for the ownership group. While many on here are skeptical of Raptors attendance, I believe they are also a significant positive contributor to MLSE's bottom line. The Leafs and Raptors have not won championships or even playoff rounds in a long time, but that doesn't automatically translate to lack of on-field success for the Argos if they get bought by MLSE. It's way easier to win in an eight-team league than a 30-team league, and the amount the Argos cost to operate would be pocket change for MLSE. Assuming they do in fact want to be part of an NFL team coming to Toronto (and I do assume that), it would be far better for the Argos to be part of the organization, essentially run by MLSE for community goodwill and the recipient of cross-promotion and maybe even mandated ticket sales, than to be on the outside trying to compete with that financial juggernaut.

Yes I'm referring to the On Ice / On Field performance of MLSE Teams. The leafs are incredibly successful financially. The rest of the MLSE teams are not.

The leafs require Platinum Season Ticket holders to also buy Platinum Raptors Season Tickets so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did the same thing with an NFL team.

Or maybe with a CFL team. (If that is in fact true.)

What do you think the reality would be if MLSE bought the Argonauts, then acquired the Bills at some point and turned the Bills into the Toronto Argonauts of the NFL? Hmmm?

The Argo owners could not change leagues. The Argonaut name and franchise belong to the CFL, who would force MLSE to either choose a different nickname for the NFL team or relinquish control of the Argos.

If the Argos had their own stadium with all the revenue streams that generates, the NFL should not be a threat to the franchise. But playing 2nd fiddle at BMO as the junior partner to a NFL team, the future of the Argos would be tenuous...even with the MLSE "good guys" running the team.

That particular scenario is too implausible for me to comment on. Now, I do think MLSE is interested in getting an NFL franchise. I also think that is extremely unlikely, given all the hurdles that would have to be overcome (franchise fee, no suitable stadium, Goodell's ties to western New York, the lack of value for U.S. TV networks from a franchise in Canada, to name a few obvious ones). But even if somehow MLSE or someone connected with MLSE manages the improbable feat of getting an NFL team for Toronto, I believe MLSE will have to keep the Argonauts alive -- in the CFL -- to satisfy the NFL.

The way the NFL is being played today, would we even notice the difference? Our NFL Argonauts would have a few more seats filled and less kick returns, but the games would not be any less exciting. As a fans of both leagues, that is the hard truth.

I used to love the CFL because it was the better game. Since 2000, the games have become so similar, mostly by CFL influence and NFL copycats, I can not say truthfully the same. I know I would become an NFL Argonaut fan, even though I do not like that scenario at this time.

I cannot disagree with any of this. The NFL offers a tremendously exciting and entertaining product, in no small part because it has copied many CFL offensive strategies. And over the past decade or so the entertainment value of the CFL has diminished somewhat, in part (IMO) because rosters sizes have increased to allow more defensive specialists and clock rules have changed to reduce the number of offensive plays. The CFL is still an entertaining product, but the days where there was no comparison between the two for entertainment value are long gone. Cue the "No Fun League" rebuttals . . .

    Yes that's your opinion.
Mine and which many share, has the No Funners still with a far inferior product as the rules and the size of the field dictate by and large the running game with the 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

I still feel the pace of our game is quicker although the difference may not be as big as it once was. I am not sure that the NFL can be described quite as much today as "3 yards and a cloud of dust" as they have copied the CFL in recent years in the importance of and reliance upon the passing game.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

Sorry AT, but it is very hard to take any comments you make on the product of the NFL seriously. You have come on here countless times saying that you don't watch the NFL, so how in the world can you comment on the excitement factor of the game? Either you lie about what you actually watch, or you are just saying these things to spite those that do like the league.
It's us vs the rest of the country
