AC bidding adieu to his playing days is fitting and good, except for the one thing that irritates me (at least): 79,816 career passing yards.
Argghh! So close to that wonderfully round, fat, final number: 80,000

AC was offered the MTL OC job, which he declined so it'll be interesting what he does next.
Argos Season Ticket Holder 2016-2021.
Who's to say AC would make a good coach? - he has all that experience, and talent as a QB - but that does not instantly translate to coaching smarts or acumen. AC seemed like a cry-baby a lot of the time when things did not go his way on the field - pointing fingers at receivers or team-mates; he was also in charge on the field of some real dumb-@$$ offences that choked with simplistic stupidity in a number of big play-off games. An Argo fan might cheer for him to go into coaching with the Als.
The Als have had their way often with a (often times) weak East division for a long time; times have changed and i believe they are on the way down - Popp has no clue as a HC and IMO has declined signifigantly in his former strong suit of finding/signing/drafting lots of good talent for the Als over the past number of seasons - his time has past in the CFL and he's probably more interested in trying to find any NFL gig. And Bobby Wetnandall is an A$$-hat (just IMO). The Als might get a free pass in the East for the play-offs anyways for some time with an expansion Ottawa team as competition, but I'l bet on them being sub-500 for the near future and nowhere near a first place team - which IMO again will look good on them. Jim Poop and AC as leaders of the Als "brain-trust" for the next while ? = bring it on.

The League needs a strong competitive team in Montreal. They look pretty good on paper to me again this year. QB Smith will still have some CFL growing pains, but there is still a lot of talent on that team. But I agree Jim Popp seems to have been chasing NFL jobs the last couple of years and not giving his all to the Alouettes. Or at least it appeared that way from a distance.

Anthony Calvillo: a great QB and a sterling character. Congratulations on a truly superb career.
I noted the press conference references to completing his degree, and to the upcoming internship with the Als that will (at least partially) cover GM duties.
That position may well be Anthony's several (not too many) years from now.

The Als have some holes to fill to be sure, but Smith has shown signs that he has the ability to become a worthy successor to AC.
If Popp wants to catch on in the NFL, the very best way to do so is to do his current job properly. The Als need more than a distracted GM that lives in - what? - North Carolina?!
His retirement announcement was so Calvillo - total class.
