With Durie likely gone for the season, Bradfield provides some depth to the Argo National receiving corps.
Good for him. Worked hard in camp and proved a better choice than Norzil despite the fact he was drafted lower.

Obviously it sucks losing Durie, but good move by the Argos to bring back Bradfield, IMO showed some potential during TC.
Plus he is a highly experience and pretty decent punt returner.

Thumbs up (however you do that symbol)
Does anyone know what Bradfield was thinking when he downed the ball in the endzone in the 4th quarter against Calgary? He looked like he was playing American rules there.

I think his excitement of being in the line-up got the better of him there. In the end, it really didn't matter, and I'm sure he won't make a mistake like that again. It'll probably make for some good comic relief when the team is reviewing the film.

I first thought the Argos went with an onside punt for a second but judging from his reaction I knew that it wasn't the case. Coming from the CIS, this is really inexcusable but like Angelo said it didn't hurt the team.

Perhaps he was just showing the speed that he has and that he can cover punts. Actually, I was somewhat expecting him to get a chance at returning punts, even if only one or two. He does have excellent speed and has in the past returned well over 100 punts in the CIS with an average return well over 10 yards. Given his big WHOOPS it is probably best that he did not get the chance, until his nerves have settled down. Who knows, he might have run the wrong way -- I haven't seen one of those in over thirty years.

He was lined up on kick returns, but Josey was always on the hashmarks where the kicker lined up, so he returned them all.
I've been rethinking Bradfield's downing of the punt in the end zone . All the second half, the Argos and Stamps had been fighting for field position. How do you gain 20 yards of field position --- you down the ball in the endzone for a 15 yard penalty, instead of taking the somewhat useless single point and moving the ball out to the 35. I'm not so sure Bradfield was being a total idiot, and the play may have even been called for him to do. After all, 20 yards is a lot of turf late in a tight field position game.

Interesting that the ball comes out to the 10 yard line before the penalty is assessed, making it effectively a 25 yard penalty. I wasn't aware of that. Is that true only if the kicking team downs the ball in the endzone, or are there other instances where it comes out to the 10 ?

Not sure about other types of penalties, but it is the rule for no yards penalties in the endzone. Had he not touched the ball but still had no yards after the ball bounced, it would have been 5 yards from the 10, and depending on the circumstances, most often you would see the team give up the point and decline the penalty.

I can think of two possible explanations for Bradfield making that error:
1) He was thinking that he was playing American rules although that would be strange for a player who has presumably played Canadian rules his entire life.
2) Somehow, as he was going downfield, he got confused and thought that it was a kickoff that he was covering - in which case he would be onside - rather than a punt.
When the play first happened I thought it was #1 but after further thought I believe that it is #2 as he raced to cover the ball in the endzone which would provide no advantage in American football (when "downing" the ball) but would in Canadian football if it were a kickoff rather than a punt.

You're probably right Ravi. As a possible option 3, he must have somehow lost track of the ball in flight, and thought a Stampeder player had touched it.
The irony here is that you are going to have former Florida State playes/students (entrance exam might include the spelling of CAT) questioning the smarts of U of T guys. Now that is funny.
