Sorry had to go back and find this ..... http://blog.ridleyscouting.com/Kent_...A_Formula.html

So 35% will not look pretty to the players at this point. Unless the CFLPA have great faith in the revenues in the coming year.

Rids has the game day revenue 48.5 plus TSN at 40.8 plus an additional 10 for merchandise .... 99.3 million
....now this is supposing all the revenues are shared amongst the teams ....

Im sick to my stomach thinking there might be 1 full second of a work stoppage,or strike of any kind.

This league has NEVER been a money maker for the owner of any team, this league has provided a decent paycheck for a 5 month JOB to most players.

The players (with exception of the STARS) are interchangable, MOST fans cheer for the teams.

The fact the a bunch of low level "ham-n-eggers" may destroy this Canadian instituition really bothers me.

I say use replacement players if the CFLPA votes to strike, and i suggest the "star" players would most likely cross any picket lines, and the low level players who vote to strike would be easily replaced.

I want my CFL football, I want to see the Toronto Argonauts.

Players come, and players go...but the Toronto Argonauts have been around since 1873...and will go on...no matter what some replaceable second string lineman votes.

Frank Zicarelli had quite the column in the Sun today: http://www.torontosun.com/2014/05/26...our-disruption

What does Zicarelli mean by this?: "The incoming Ottawa franchise, according to those in the know, has already used up all of its capital."

He also trashes Glen Suitor: "
Open letters were released last week from has-been players afraid to take sides, from the league and from its players' association, in each case expressing words that ring hollow."
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

As I've stated here MANY times, Zicareli knows little to none about anything he writes about. He must be a volunteer, because if he actually gets paid for the nonsense he writes, there should be drug testing in the executive offices of the Sun.

This article and the one prior to it are a good read.

    https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/cf...221630266.html

    https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/cf...aign=hootsuite

One problem I have, and correct me if I'm wrong cause it will make me feel better ..... It stated in the article that the ALS had revenue of about 12-14 so I will assume the Argos is about 10? If there were a 35% revenue sharing ( based on overall CFL revenue ) the cash flow for the Argos would be restrictive. Results from that would mean .....

    1) the Argos would not spend to the cap
    2) we ....being Argos and Argo supporters ....would hope that other teams did not produce so much revenue so as to raise the next years cap ......which is contrary to building the league.

A criticism I have of Zicarelli is that he will often throw a cryptic comment out but not elaborate upon it. I have no idea what he is alluding to regarding Ottawa. We have seen this in the past concerning comments about the Argos too (e.g., cryptic comments as to why Brandon Isaac was released or a quick line about how cheap Braley is but no elaboration).

As long as they are talking, it is all good. I am really not concerned as I believe they will lose a week of training camp in the worst case scenario and I doubt that will even happen. The two sides will work out a deal soon enough IMO.

While a deal has not been reached there appears to have been progress made at the CBA talks that took place today. The talks will resume tomorrow.

Doug Flutie crossed the picket lines and played for New England when the greedy players association went on strike in 1987....

So if the CFLPA attempts to be greedy, hopefully history will repeat itself in terms of finding an all time great...

That said,...just get the deal done, and make it LONG term...

any stoppage is stupid on either side....

On my commute into work this morning not one of the radio stations I listen to in the London area made mention of the CFL negotiations during the sports segment. That makes me wonder how strong the CFL really is.

No need for drug testing, AV, there's a much simpler explanation.

But other than the two sides talking behind closed doors, there was absolutely nothing to report. Not surprising it would not be a topic of discussion on radio when there are playoff games going on in hockey and bkbl, Jays' winning streak, etc. Until something tangible happens, these talks will be of low interest to broadcasters filling two-minute slots once an hour.

After 2 days of meetings, The players offer is a 5.8m cap this season increasing 3% each season.

That's an increase of 175k per season and after 4 years they'll be at 6.5m. Wow!
