Great effort by Messam in the second half. Now if he can only keep his head on straight.

Is that a different RB in each game for the roughriders? good for game planning as the opposing team hasn't planned for them

Good to see that the Pretty Boy Drew Willy turned into a turnover machine last night. Hopefully the Bombers will be nicked up for the short turn around. Potential trap game for Winnipeg.

Great, Will Ford has several good games so I start him at RB and Messam ends up getting the brunt of the carries.

Great effort yes, but it didn't really equate to any points. Of the 23 they scored, 13 were on defensive TD's, and 3 came after a fumbled kickoff. Offence had nothing to do with it.

Riders win with big plays on D (particularly that pick 6 Willy gave up on a bad decision).

Interesting on the offensive "thinking" side though; Bummers run game is useless and they out-pass the Riders easily; but Messam goes off big-time with an applied run game in the 2nd half - a big power runner getting lots of carries behind a big strong O-Line and it works - geez who knew that could happen in the good ole CFL? Messam sat around un-signed for awhile after getting cut by the Als. The Bummers should have jumped on a chance to get him (Grigsby may be a special "athlete" and has some quicks and moves but he is not a good, consistent between the tackles CFL RB (averaging around 4 yards per carry) - a bunch of those types get handed CFL playing time now though (and get way over-rated) - like Ford, Grigsby, White for the Esks, and that over-rated clown for the Ticats whose name i can't recall now.

Not much was said when DT Eric Taylor left the Argos for the West Coast after the 2010 season, but I can't think of a more under rated player in the CFL. Watching him play tonight I wish we could have kept him on board.

I think it has everything to do with Chamblin not being satisfied with his backs and little to do with game planning.

Grigsby hasn't done much since the second game of the season. I was only half paying attention to the feature on TSN but they were saying something about him being the best athlete in the CFL? That is a little much given his accomplishments so far this season.

I watched the Als-Esks game highlights (not the entire game):

    1. The Als' D was not playing well, particularly in the first half.
    2. Troy Smith's play improved noticeably.
    3. Brandon Whitaker is a player.
    4. Duron Carter - son of NFL Hall of Fame receiver Chris Carter : )) - made an impact.
    5. The officiating sucked (no surprise about that) and did genuine damage to the Als in particular (definite PI not called on more than one occasion, the botched video review of the botched call of a sideline catch).
    6. Chad Johnson??

Johnson was moved to slotback where he has to put up with a lot more traffic. As a result, he was knocked out of the game on Montreal's second offensive play with a concussion.

That explains his absence from the stat sheet as well.
I've really got to question the wisdom of moving an accomplished WR (and a CFL newbie) away from his natural position.

I watched the second half of the ALS- Esks game ..... The Esks only scored a field goal in the second half. Montreal's Defense played much better the second half.

Alex Bazzie #53 BC Lions Defensive Lineman looked very impressive last night against the Ticats.
Kevin Glenn continues his Jeckyl & Hyde play as well, entertaining game!!

I agree. If they were going to move him to see if they can get better production, they should have moved him from wide side to short side, but keep him at wideout. After 15 years or so of lining up on the line, the waggle can be difficult to adjust to.

Agreed - a showcase game for the CFL.

Kevin Glenn: if he keeps playing this way he will become known as "Il Magnifico" : ))

It will be interesting to see when Lulay gets his first action. Matt Dunigan has said on more than one occasion that he doesn't think that Lulay will ever be the same player after his shoulder injury. If he is limited to 20 or 30 yard passes, it will be tough.

Yes, I too am wondering about both issues that you've raised.
