    Kackert retires?

Word on twitter is that chad kackert has retired and will become the strength and conditioning coach for the Argos. No surprise with being unable to stay healthy the last few seasons.

That news has been confirmed. The injury prior to the East Final is ultimately what has ended his playing career.

I guess you had to be there to see it but its just mind boggling to me to break an ankle in a non contact practice. I can imagine what happened, must have been the footing on the turf but what a crushing way to end a career. A broken ankle isn't rare in football but I guess it just depends on recovery. Looks like Forzani is taking the year off with an ankle injury,

    Brutal. That's a huge loss!

Lol, and of course I just bought his Jersey in December.

During his brief time as Argo running back, his breakaway running style create lots of exciting moments. I will miss him.

If true, this is a critical loss with a player that cannot be replaced.

Great legs. Explosive threat. I just started following the team last year and he was one of the first players I took to. Wish him the best.

Unless he has suddenly learned to block to Milanovich's liking, there is little chance of him returning to the Argos. It is hard to believe that Boyd's career is already over as well.

It may have been a non-contact practice, but that doesn't mean there is no contact. Kack said that he had a shoulder to shoulder collision with the defensive end, just as he planted his foot to cut, and his ankle shattered. Sometimes these things happen but you always shake your head and say, "why ?". BTW Kack has not ruled out someday trying a comeback, but right now he is still concentrating on walking without a limp.

I just heard that he ran into the defensive end today. Not sure why it was just reported now, 8 months later. Before, all I heard was he shattered his leg with no details given to what had happened.

I've always wondered how much the pathetic field conditions at Erindale contributed to his injury. If it was a factor, it would probably be too embarrassing for the team to admit.

To be fair, while the field conditions at UTM were poor, I believe Kackert's injury took place at the SkyDome. The team was practicing there in the week before the eastern final.

I think it can be blamed on Rogers just like every other Argo bad news story. I blame it all on Rogers. Karma will get them all!!!!!

wonder if the Argos knew this before the draft and that is why they moved up to get coombs? in hopes he may become a starter in 2 or so years...

It sounds like they have been preparing for Kackert not to return for some time now.

I saw an interview with Kack, he said about continuing with rehab and not giving up a return if everything goes according to plan?

Even if he does ever manage to come back, the Argos obviously can't count on that and he won't be a factor on the field this season at least.
