Big move for them.
He could've been helpful on our d-line, but I guess Barker didn't think so.

Drew Edwards has not mentioned anything about Laurent signing in Hamilton. I have boldly predicted he would sign with the Argos. Who is your source argofan87....not that I am doubting your word.
The CFL website is reporting Ted Laurent is signing with Hamilton. As a former Canadian Western All-Star he would have plugged a big hole for the Argos.

These big signings that create great expectations often fail to work out as expected. Cats fans are getting way too excited about this. Some are predicting they will start 10 NIs including two at DT, one at LB (Plesius, who has barely played in the CFL), two in the secondary and two at receiver. I will be stunned if they start more than eight.
Cue the "gold old boy", "thinkers" rebuttal in ...5..4..3..2..1
You missed the best of the bunch in Chris Bauman.
Of course, the Argos have had their share of bust (or at least disappointing) signings in the past as well. Joe Montford, Eric Blount, Jeff Fairholme just to name 3.

The Argo Media Guide shows that Amerson played just one game for the Argos in 2001.
To be fair Cats have also signed big names that weren't busts. Glenn, Burris, Bruce, Cobourne, Fantuz.
Plesius wont be starting but could in situations - which he did last year. Defense will use 4 CDNs

Bauman wasn't a FA signing he was a draft pick.

Good signing by Hamilton, they are doing a nice job with their Canadian talent.
Sure he would have been a great addition for Toronto but look at it from a players standpoint, Argos ownership and stadium situation in turmoil, meanwhile Hamilton has a stable committed owner and are moving into a new home!
The suck inside of me says "Screw him. He sucks anyways".

2 DTs (Laurent & Bulcke). plus Craig Butler (at OLB or safety?), then who ?
"Some" are predicting the Pussycats will start 10 NIs ? - LOL - pigs will be flyin' first. Not that they couldn't: Fantuz & Giguere at receiver plus maybe the 3 interior O-Line (= 5 on O), then the 2 DTs, Butler at OLB, Stephen or King at S, and Plesius at MLB (doubt he gets a real shot to due to, wait for it, in 3, 2, 1 ... good ole boy pencilled in stuff ;o)) = 5 on D. 10 NI starters would boggle some CFL minds though and is a big risk = if you don't have a winning record there would be howls of derision and cliche-fests galore. Better to hand starting jobs to mostly imports and if you aren't a winning team there are all sorts of other excuses available.
Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
Maybe you never heard of the NI talent the Ticats have built up on D alone? - ever heard of Laurent, Bulcke, or Butler? how bout young NIs with outstanding resumes or a bit of CFL experience already - Stephen or King at S, Hazime on the D-Line; Plesius (CIS all-star and top notch play-maker on a very good Laval D), DE Gascon-Nadon (ditto the resume of Plesius); draft picks like Atkinson at DT or Landry at OLB; maybe outstanding young NI D-line prospects like Gaydosh or Urban shake free from NFL looks?
Dyakowski being out for awhile hurts their O-Line, but they do have a few vets with experience there (Wojt, O'Neill, Myddelton), plus a bunch of young guys who were CFL draft picks with some potential perhaps - Reinders, Rockhill, Flier; and they still have Fantuz - one the best receivers in the league, plus Giguere and some other young NI receivers with potential (watch for Spencer Armstrong perhaps - acquired from the Stamps).
I realize Argo fans may be inclined to be dismissive of the hated Pussycats, but IMO they have built up a lot of young NI talent (maybe 2nd to the Stamps there in the league) - wether a number of them with some potential ever pan-out, remains to be seen. They have more serious issues where they are likely to deploy imports - like QB, receiver and a bunch of spots on D - just IMO.
