I still think it will take a few games for our D to solidify, but it's hard not to be encouraged by what we've seen in the pre-season. Our DL already looks like a significant upgrade over last year and if we can get decent pressure from those guys it'll make life easier for our revamped LB and DB corps.

And hey, all we need is an average D. It looks as though we've seamlessly patched the holes in our strong offense, so no worries there.

I think we'll beat the Bombers 31-21 in the first game of a 13-5 season.

35-16, and 13-5 sounds about right.

Did you watch WPG in preseason.
They won't score more than 10pts in their first game. 41-9.

It should be a laugher. Not sold on Drew Willy. Just too much work to do for the new regime in Winnipeg. Also, the Oline there may be as bad as Edmontons....."Release the Hounds"...

The Argos should win, but you never take any opponent lightly and I hope that's what Coach Milanovich is driving home to the guys this week.

How true. Also, even the worst teams often seem to play over their heads in their first regular season game, especially a home opener. The Bombers have a lot of work to do to recover from the Joe Mack era but they are still capable of making plays.

A bit pissed I can't watch their first game live. However, I'll be going to what should be a great jazz concert with two greats performing (Dave Holland and John Scofield).

Bomber fans have suffered for quite a while so hopefully it will be somewhat close. As much as big Argo wins keep my blood pressure in check a competitive league is good for the CFL.

my only concern (as i think we ought to mop the floor with that lot) is with blitz pickup. it has been a very short preseason with very little live ammo shot at our protection... and with new guys in at RB and the inexperience on the left side of the line (Ray's blindside), i'll take any sort of win Thursday night if it means we keep Ricky clean.

The left side is not all that inexperienced. Rogers played about as many games last season as King did on the right side, and Holmes played the last half-dozen or so. They're fairly green but not raw rookies. Nonetheless, your point about blitz pickup is certainly valid -- Johnson and Steele need to be up to the task.

Firstly Jazz doesn't come close to Argo and CFL football. haha. To each his own. I might have to miss a game if Rocket From The Crypt hit TO though. All joking aside, Argos Win!!!! Argos Win!!! Winnipeg screwed the pooch bigtime going with another horrible qb choice.

The depth chart has been posted.

    - Sinkfield has been added to the IR
    - Okpalaugo has come off the PR
    - No sign of Marcus Thomas on the roster yet
    - I still can't quite believe that we're starting an "international" at guard
    - Steele is listed as the starting RB, but we've been told that it's more of a 1A/1B thing with Johnson
    - We're starting the minimum seven "nationals"

Not a whole lot of depth in that secondary.

We're starting the minimum seven "nationals"
Shh! OV Argo might see that.

Johnson is likely our primary ball carrier, no? i've got nothing against Steele, but my feeling was that Johnson or Slatton was our better bet for production...

What - and then i'd come on here and say "told ya so" ? Most CFL teams will try to go that route. And i see Cleon Laing is not listed as a "starter" - but I'd be willing to bet he plays more reps in a rotation at DT than either of those 2 rookie imports

Matt Ware starting at cornerback ? - did he play at all in the ex. games ?

The Bummers Etch D seems to be deploying 3 ultra lightweight linebackers (Ian Wild - impressive last year as a tweener OLB, but barely over 200 is at MLB (though they could play Kuale or draft pick Briggs as more natural, bigger MLB types; and both OLBs are under 200); plus they have a smallish D-Line with no big body run stuffer types = a CFL offence should be licking their lips in anticipation of having their O-line tee of in run blocking with lots of carries for a capable RB (or two or three). Maybe Ricky Ray will be able to pick them apart with a mostly pass offence anyways, but I'll bet Johnson (seems like an explosive back) could have a big day here.

Shouldn't it be the TwoColours? This is the CFL after all. :-)

To bad I was looking forward to seeing Sinkfield. Is he actually hurt or is this a roster move?
