Why not? Everybody knows pre-season games are always very poorly attended. Saskatchewan got 13k and change last week for a pre season game, and they have, what, 27k season ticket holders? Less than 50%. Maybe the Argos had stats over time showing that less than 50% of STH attended pre season games.

I tailgate in Hamilton because I know being fined is unlikely. I doubt that would be the case around Rogers Centre.

For several years now, between 20 and 40 of us have been tailgating at the small lot on Bremner just west of York. BBQ and beer, baby, the only way to go. The cops are not a problem. They see us and they ignore us. We do the plastic cup thing which I believe makes a difference. The lot is part of the big construction site, so this is probably the last year this site will be available.

Anyone interested in honest-to-goodness tailgating should try to join us this year. Ping is always there with his fine collection of Argo merch for sale at good prices. It's a small lot, so sometimes spaces are hard to come by. Weekday games are especially difficult. We try to get there at least 2 hours before gametime.

If I'm not mistaken, the Sask game with 13,000 was officially a RedBlacks home game and was not part of the Roughriders' ticket package.

For the record, I find it difficult to believe the Argos have only 5k ST holders. I'm much more in agreement with the number Flutie02 has said. Believe it or not, there are corporate ST holders, and I do believe they receive other perks in lieu of the pre-season game at varsity. I also don't believe the Argos average 15k a game in non ST holders.
