While it sounds menacing.....only 1 side of this story is public (underwoods side, via twitter)
I hope the Argonauts do address the allegations, and IF they are completely true, its a cold hearted move.

Would be disappointing if true, but quite frankly doesn't sound like Barker or Milanovich's style.
Barker to me has always erred on the side of being more than fair to the players, (encouraging Sewell to go back to school) and willfully releasing guys to pursue their NFL aspiration (Armstead, Ball, Inman, Thorpe) all in the spirit of not burning any bridges regarding players returning to the Argonauts.
Although somewhat frustrating as a fan I actually admire the Argonauts for this policy so I am hoping that there is a plausible explanation in this case.

I guess we do need to hear the Argos side of the story. Could be they had no idea of the situation and treated him as an AWOL player.
It's us vs the rest of the country
I suspect that is what happened. Milanovich initially said to Zicarelli that week that Underwood's absence was no big deal and that he would be back the next day IIRC. What I suspect happened is that they never heard from Underwood after that first day and were unable to get in touch with him. At that point, they may have assumed that he had left permanently.
Jarriel King left the team for a week after the second Saskatchewan game but he had the team's permission to do so. King's tweets that week indicated that he was spending time with his family but never mentioned anything further. In any event, the Argos knew in advance, gave their permission and then welcomed him back after the game that he missed in Montreal.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
I realize this post maybe moved, but Hamilton has released International (formerly known as Import) RB/KR Lindsay Lamar. He ran a KO for a TD in last seasons opener against the Argos. He had concussion issues, but if he is healthy I think he could help our horrible return game...
This week we:
- put Marcus Thomas back on the IR
- activated Herve Tonye-Tonye from the PR
- de-activated Shane Herbert (back to the PR)
- signed wide receiver Greg Childs to the PR
I think that Thomas was hurt in the second quarter of the Hamilton game; he quietly disappeared at about that time. I hope it's a minor injury; he really seems like our best nose tackle option if we want to feature more 3-4 for whatever reason (Jones, Greenwood, etc.).
Childs is an very interesting addition. He has a prototypical NFL WR body, was very good on a good Razorbacks team, and became a fourth round pick by the Vikings in 2012. But... he suffered a horrible injury in camp and wrecked both knees (two patellar tendon tears). If that's not bad enough, he had previously torn one of them in college. I'm definitely rooting for him! He and 'dre should swap injury horror stories.
Thomas has the most nose tackle-like body, but considering how few snaps he has played in his two games, I'm no longer counting on him to play a big role for us. He gets hurt every time he gets on the field.
Thomas was consistently healthy in his NFL days and seemed quite fit during limited action with us late last year. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. He probably didn't report in game shape (after hoping and failing to attract NFL interest) and suffered a fluke injury in his return last week. It's far too early to give up on a guy that we can't currently replace.
Getting back to the Underwood issue, I thought that I would post his latest tweets that provide more detail from his viewpoint as to what led to his release:
I just read that I was released because I didn't bother to show up for a practice! How the hell can I do that when no one bothers
— Brandon Underwood (@Bunderwood8) September 10, 2014
To tell me that since we didn't have a practice facility at the time that it had been switched!??

Tired of people lying on me straight up
— Brandon Underwood (@Bunderwood8) September 10, 2014
We practiced at a facility all week and the day I get back no one bothers to inform me that they switched sites!
— Brandon Underwood (@Bunderwood8) September 10, 2014
I'm suppose to know that I guess, one day at a high school next who knows!
— Brandon Underwood (@Bunderwood8) September 10, 2014
I have one facility on my schedule and had no idea they changed the site the day I get back, but that's my fault?! How do you figure
— Brandon Underwood (@Bunderwood8) September 10, 2014
But then that's apparently my fault for being out of the country, should've been a mind reader.

Definitely very unfortunate. They Argos do post their practice schedule on their website, but I don't think players should need to check the website to find out where they need to report for practice. Looks like the lack of a practice facility cost him his job, and that is a shame.

Sounds like Milanovich was making an example out of Underwood. Do you think that Ricky Ray would have been cut for missing a practice if he just returned from a family emergency and the practice facility has changed? Argos have brought in two veteran DB's and may have been planning on making changes there any way.
I'm not giving up on him, but as I said I am not counting on him.
Remarkably, every other player somehow found out where that practice was taking place. And as far as I know they have all found the other locations as well. Players bear some responsibility for finding these things out, IMO.
Terrell Sinkfield with the punt return td for the Cats.
Fitting......
I wish we had traded him. Then we would have at least received something in return. Instead the Argos released him and kept Darvin Adams..... 'Nuff said.
Plus it was the Cats 3rd different player with a kick return. Third. And the Argos have a guy who fumbles the ball on the opening kickoff two weeks in a row, and let's the ball bounce on punts. The Argos return teams have been just awful.
