The other Eastern teams are really digging themselves some large holes; seven wins will probably be enough to get into the playoffs.

Despite the overall east vs. west record, I honestly don't think it's out of the question for the east to turn things around this season. All 3 losses this week could have easily been reversed.

I think we also saw a very good reason why Jerome Messam is doing his league wide tour and can't find a permanent home in this league tonight. He is very one dimensional. For a 245 pounder, he is the worst blocking back I have ever seen (and I also noticed this last week against Winnipeg). Blocking takes both smarts (recognition) and moreso effort. The fact that he is so bad shows me that he doesn't care to make the effort.Tonight, on 1 play he lets John Bowman go untouched and deliver a killer blow on Durant (that was bad recognition). Then he takes a holding penalty because he can't handle Bowman which moves the ball back to a longer FG attempt which results in a return for a TD (that was bad effort).

Being strictly a power runner can only get you so far in 3 down football. You need to block and be able to catch passes other than screen passes. Neither of which he is any good at.

After seeing Saskatchewans's 3rd Jersey, I have a craving for a Monster Energy Drink or perhaps a Mountain Dew....Montreal is going nowhere with Alex Brink at qb....who does Hamilton start at qb on Labour Day? If the Argos can get healthy (and stay that way), they could runaway with the East.

Regarding Hamilton, I don't think that they know when Collaros will be ready. He could be by Labour Day or it could be a few weeks after that. If he doesn't start on Labour Day, then Jeremiah Masoli will as Lefevour appeared to sustain a serious injury yesterday.

As far as Brink goes, the Als and their fans are hoping he can be the guy. I think that Brink is an okay backup but I just can't see him being a full-time starter who can take that team anywhere. They scored 4 offensive points yesterday. Yes, they should have had a TD early in that game but that still would have given them only 11 offensive points. It is tough to win in the CFL with that kind of output (stating the obvious of course).
Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

It was just a couple weeks ago all appeared Doom & Gloom with the Argos, but as odd as the CFL season is, the Argos are now looking good to finish first. Hamilton is in real trouble now with their top 2 qb's out, Ottawa is an expansion team afterall, & now with Troy Smith suffering multiple injuries (not buying that), no matter how good Montreal's defense is, after a while of offensive inepitude, they will burnout.

I think the Als should seriously consider making a pitch to acquire Matt Nichols from Edmonton. IMO, he is the best of the back up QB's around the league, and with Reilly playing well in Edmonton, Nichols may never see the field and welcome an opportunity.

Or how about Trevor Harris? He's eminently ready to demonstrate that he's ready (to be a starter). And the Als have something for the Argos.

Too bad about Dan LeFevour. Like lots of others, I'm sure, I was impressed by his play.

I liked what I saw of LeFevour as well. I think Nichols would be a little more desirable than Harris, strictly because he has had some meaningful playing time in the past.

Don't know about that. I have seen him drop more catchable passes than he has caught this season. Would have liked to see him do well, but I think he's done.
