It's not just the Argos. I'm guessing Reebok supplies the nameplates since the Riders jerseys are doing the same, covering up the shoulder stripe.

You would think the team/league and Reebok would sort this out amongst themselves before releasing the product, looks Mickey Mouse the way it shows now.

Ya, it's not just the Argos. All the jerseys come with the nameplate form Reebok. Even the current ones. Regardless if you put a name on it or not.

I'm 99.9% sure your guess is right. Because of the colours it is not as noticeable but it is the same issue:

You would think, it's a shockingly obvious mistake. For the player jerseys I guess they would use smaller letters for longer names so they fit?

You mean the '60s white retro that was never made available for sale to the public? Because IIRC it wasn't -- I assume the team was spooked by the number of unsold 1950s replicas from the year before.

It is indeed shockingly obvious. I doubt they will use smaller letters for longer-named players -- for them the nameplate will have to extend over the piping. But there is no excuse in the world why Reebok, the CFL or the team should have allowed 18-inch nameplates for short names like Ray and Durie. Again, I hope to hell the team is paying attention to this discussion and fixes the problem, because I doubt many people would buy a jersey with such an obviously wrong and ugly element marring the design.

I have Argo home and away Jerseys (customized) and wouldn't buy this 3rd Jersey for that reason, again basic marketing snafu, also $229.00 for a customized jersey is beyond stupid IMO.

any idea what skydome is charging to do up the blank ones? I was told that they are the only ones doing the light blue numbers (the letters look like the normal away lettering)...

I can get the normal dark blue numbers and letters done in my hometown for $79...

There is also the Argonauts wordmark on the pants, the nameplate font and the A on the helmet -- six fonts in total. That's a tad ragged. I don't have an issue with continuing to use the A logo font and the existing nameplate font, but Toronto, Argonauts and Pull Together all should have been in one font, and the numbers could have been in that same font. But these are minor quibbles for an overall look that I find more attractive than any other alt the team has introduced.

Those are the ones. I bought a Shivers jersey at the locker room sale. Remember those?

LOL, Shivers had one good year for the Argos as a player. He was one of the Argos' assistants who moved with Chris Jones to Edmonton this year.

Here's the thing. The logo on the new helmets is bigger, which is great news -- i always thought the current helmet logo is too small.

But since they are bigger, I would assume they are new stickers. And yet they STILL have the wrong shade of Cambridge blue in the logo. There are 3 possibilities to explain this:

    1. They actually WANT the light blue color on the helmet logo to be different than the light blue on the unis. (possible but unlikely)
    2. Their helmet sticker supplier can't reproduce the proper blue colour. (highly unlikely)
    3. Inattention to detail/indifference on the part of Argo management. (probable)

Very disappointing. Despite that, mark me down as loving the new unis. I've always had a weakness for dark blue outline on light blue numbers, that's how the Argo unis looked when I saw my first game.

I too am glad that the stickers on the helmet are bigger and hope that they get transferred to our regular helmets. I would be curious to see what a stripe would look like on the blue helmet as well.

    Post Argos new uni's

well, those things they are wearing tonight
    against BC are pretty hideous.

Quit screwing around with the jerseys and helmets and just bring back the early 80's one, with football/boat helmet logo circa 82/83

...the front of a jersey is for the number, not a big A

I thought that all that was missing was a beautiful glitter blue handbag. How is any mens football team able to play such a tough game dressed in that girly uni. Burn those uni's NOW!!! Reebok you SUCK!!!!

The missing part to the Argo uni's.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Womens-Glitt.../dp/B009YWY4HK

The Argos have now sent the 3rd jersey's back to reebok so they can swap the A for a T and send them off to the Titans. Horrible uni's with wrong colours. Reebok BLOWS!

I got me one with number 7 and Uteck on the nameplate to raise ALS awareness.

Hated both sets of unis tonight. It was so hard to identify any of the players tonight by number. 1argoholic is right...Reebok blows.

What is "girly" about these unis? Is it the light blue? Does light blue mean girly? Like the pants of those girly Dallas Cowboy uniforms?

Buy one then! They are ohhhhh soooooo dreamy.

The "wheat farmers" uniforms were the worst! Just like chunks of mucus on the field.
