    Jeff Garcia joins Alouette staff

Jeff Garcia has been brought in to help what's been an inept offence so far this season.

Matthews and Schonert have only been around for a few days and have not really had a chance to have an effect on the offence and they already bring in Garcia? Dinwiddie must be feeling uncomfortable with all of the people looking over his shoulder now.

Schonert, Matthews, Dinwiddie, Higgins, and now Garcia, oh my!

Matthews is too old and in ill-health: he shouldn't be, and needn't be, in Montreal. It's absurd.
Why both Schonert and Garcia? Run with Jeff Garcia.
Return Dinwiddie to new trainee status.
Put Higgins in charge of fetching the coffee, unless ownership is willing to pay two fired coaches. That might be best... face palm.

Wow, looks like Higgins and his crew have about as much credibility as Hawkins and the gang had last year!
Sadly we all maybe witnessing the start of the next franchise in crisis in the CFL.
Montreal fans won't put up with this BS coming off many years of quality teams led by Calvillo.

Does Higgins have any filter at all, just undermined his starter with that one.
Make it two gong show hires for the ALS in consecutive years, hang these on Popp and the owner.

Every time Marcel Desjardins leaves that organization, it starts to go downhill. Desjardins left in 2007 to take over the GM job in Hamilton and the Als had their first losing season since their return to the league. Desjardins went back to Montreal the next year and they embarked on a very successful period there. Desjardins left again last year to take the GM job in Ottawa and the Als once again have a losing season which was their first since 2007. Perhaps the Als miss Marcel Desjardins more than anything.

Popp - who has warped the franchise these past several years - should not have been signed to yet another multi-year contract. It was, and is, high time for the Als to renew and rejuvenate in the post-Popp era.

If the notion of Jeff Garcia trying to play quarterback in 2014 was the product of "brainstorming" then those deep thinkers should immediately "retire to Bedlam".

Put up your hands if you thought you would live to see the day when Montreal would free fall in such a dysfunctional manner...Argos will host a playoff game this season.

Garcia has been working with Bo Levi Mitchell in the off season. I think he will try and train the QBs ... or assess the new ones.
It would be hilarious if he really plays.... only in the CFL .... "Coach takes the shirt off the QBs back and inserts himself".... "Had to show them how its done"

The fact that they haven't replaced Higgins must mean the players are supportive of him.

There are, I suppose, several reasons why Higgins is still around:

    1. Firing your head coach almost immediately for the second year in a row would make the organization look even worse.
    2. Paying two terminated head coaches at the same time would make the organization look even worse.
    3. The Als are still in the Eastern Division Tortoise Race and hope springs eternal. The team might improve in spite of its GM and coaching staff. Jeff Garcia may help.

Wetenhall doesn't want to have to fire yet another coach and now with Jim Popp having the new contract and gaining "his power" back, Wetenhall has allowed for more money to be spent on football ops in order to fix this thing.
I wouldn't be surprised however if on of Schonert or Thorpe is named the Head Coach in Montreal next season.

Personally don't see the need for 3 consultants. IMO, stop putting Smith out there because he's a name, start Marsh, name Schonert Offensive Co-ordinator with Garcia as his assistant or something and the team would get things together.

I have never been sold on Marsh and the Als don't seem to be either as he has dropped to third on the depth chart. I thought that Smith played reasonably well last season and see no reason why he can't get back to that level at least. I think that Popp's biggest mistake was letting Doug Berry go in the off-season. Berry did a very good job, under very difficult circumstances, with the Montreal offence last season. Popp could have made a worse decision than hiring Berry as his head coach or at least as his offensive coordinator this season.

I agree, Ravi. I know it's a small sample size, but I was not impressed with Marsh last season. Didn't he throw 4 picks in what was considered his coming out party? He was there longer than Smith, yet Smith played better than him last season. I still think Smith can be the guy once they get their coaching issues in order.

Being a CIS fan .... It would've been nice to spend so much time, money and effort on a Canadian QB. I know, Quinlan had a chance but he obviously wasn't interested in actually playing pro.

Smith has apparently fallen over a cliff this season. Why? One has to look at the entire Als cluster-f-iasco.
