With all due respect, Cleo Lemon's receiving corps was better than what Ray has had to deal with over the past several weeks.

Your right Angelo, but in a fit of rage after watching that debacle of a so called labour day classic, i was pissed. Ricky Ray IMO is still the best QB in the league. He has been given NOTHING to work with in terms of pass catchers, and his O-Line are nothing more than a group of glorified ushers letting the opposing D chase Ricky all over the field.
I have never seen Ray run so often.
There are obviously deeper issues, as stated in many other threads.
What bothers me most is that the quality of play/games this season has been very poor (overall, league wide) yet the Argo's cannot seem to rise above it. Im a fan who is angry with 3-7 Argonaut team.
Ricky Ray is not the problem, in fact he is the only potential saviour for this team.

With 20:20 hindsight we should have saved Owens for the more important game, but he looked totally ready to go against Edmonton and was having a great game before his unrelated injury. I think playing him was the right call, and as others have pointed out we probably would have won that damned game if he hadn't gotten hurt.
Last year I suggested we should keep Collaros over Ray, because the near-term future (moving into a new stadium) was more important than the present, and Collaros promised many years of excellence as opposed to one or two more years from Ricky.
For making that statement here I got ridiculed and vilified. Now I know how Galileo felt.
What does moving into a new stadium have to do with personnel decisions?
I still think that if we swapped Ray with Collaros yesterday, the numbers would havestayed the same. Ray would throw for over 300, Collaros under 200. Ray would burn our defence with players like Grant, Tasker, Koch, Fantuz etc. while Collaros would have gotten eaten alive with our woeful O-line and inexperienced receivers.

When they move into the new stadium, they will essentially be re-introducing themselves to the city (if, of course, they are under responsible new management).
When that time comes, do they want to be fronted by an aging great on his last legs, or by and up-and-coming potential star?
No I meant like he did with the Argonauts in six games last year. Looks like you're playing both sides of the fence on this issue, AngeloV. First you say Collaros could "dominate" in this league, now you're suggesting he's a bum. Which is it?
just trying to inject a little levity, a little hyperbole never hurt anyone
Building your team for the future, as opposed to playing to win now, is about more than strictly personnel concerns. It's about a team's philosophy. When the Colts opted for Andrew Luck over Peyton Manning, the decision wasn't based on a comparison of either player's current ability, it was based on the team's long-term outlook.
There comes a point in time where one cannot keep using this as an excuse.
Sure the current replacement receivers are a contributing factor, but the ball still has to be thrown to the receiver.
The vast majority of the throws have not been connected by Ricky.
Serious questions like this thread have to be asked and especially for some of us here who have seen the obvious deterioration of the quality of play which in past years and yes before the Esks traded him was at a peak.
I am one of those who noticed this especially last year and for me anyway it is evident that RR is on the down side of his career.
Yes we should have kept Zach and instead traded Ricky to teams last year looking for a QB, and there were at least 3 possibles in the market place.
This likely would have brought a decent return.
