The Stamps are too good in all aspects of the game right now and Jon Cornish is now back and looking good. It's going to be a very tough test for our defense to contain the Stamps O.

As some of you have already touched on it will be important for the Argos to get the run game going. When all the receivers went down I was expecting the Argos to lean more heavily on the run than they have. I don't think that our RB's aren't talented but rather the Oline has let them down a little. Throw in that the Argos are usually chasing the game and it doesn't lend itself to an establish the run game mentality. Rhythm is important for RB's and Slaton or Steele are never able to get into one. Even if the wideouts can stretch the field a bit and give some dump off opportunities to the backs it could go a long way to help them get in the groove of the game.

The Stamps D is tough as nails. If the Argos are going to have a hope they need a great game from their O.
That one sentence that I have bolded certainly caught my eye as that has been a huge problem for this team this season. In the seven games that they have lost, they have been behind for much of the time, if not the entire time, in most of those games. Just looking at the three game losing streak that they are currently on, the Argos only led briefly early in the fourth quarter against B.C. and in the first quarter against Edmonton and have been behind otherwise. It is tough to play from behind almost constantly.

I think that the Argos will be better this week and I am hoping that the Stamps may be due for a letdown after their Labour Day week sweep of Edmonton. Hopefully the Argos can do to Calgary this week what the Stamps did to the Argos back in '83 after Toronto beat Hamilton at Ivor Wynne 50-16.

I think Milanovich would go for the trick plays .... I think he has to have confidence in them. I'm not sure whether its the players or the schemes this year, maybe both, but I think he doesn't have the confidence in them. I believe he would use them if he could be sure of the execution.

This will be the key to the game on Sat. .... I believe our D will hold its own, .... okay maybe our specials have to be good too and help Swayze out. He can't carry them all the way.

And the Argos Oline has to be amazing!

We won't have Chiles on Saturday, but it seems all but certain that several guys *will* be back on offense. The defensive secondary could be pretty different too; it'll be interesting to see if any of Suber, McCollough, and Johnson get into the lineup.

It looks like the winter weather Calgary is experiencing will have subsided and it looks like good weather for football. I thought Owens who was doubtful for Labour Day would be ready to go after a bye week.

Today's article in the Sun says that Durie should be back but Owens probably won't be.

I interpreted Milanovich's remarks (and Zicarelli's writeup) a bit more optimistically. Owens may not have practiced yesterday, but he doesn't need to. I think there's a good chance he'll be available on Saturday.

Too bad the weather probably will improve, snowy conditions would play into our current 3-5 yard passing game.

No Owens on the depth chart. Dammit. It's nice to see Durie back, but Bradwell-Watt-Guy-Barnes? Yeesh.

In other bad news, we six-gamed Marcus Thomas and Darvin Adams.

Jones is starting at SAM, presumably because Robinson is actually hurt(?), and our new-look secondary is Smith-McCollough-Gabriel-Suber-Carter. It's hard to know what to expect from those guys, obviously.

Something looks wrong there. I can't see Jones starting at SAM. To the best of my knowledge, he has never played DB, and the SAM mostly covers the inside slot. The depth chart the Argos tweeted this morning had Robinson at SAM.

You are right. Here is another one.

    http://www.argonauts.ca/depthchart/game/depthid/10203

Shows Robinson at SAM instead of Jones. Must be a goof somewhere

No luck with receivers this year. Has there been any other team this decimated at one position in the history of the CFL? Yikes

Huh. I usually regard the PDF version as authoritative, but it certainly wouldn't be the first mistake. Angelo has a good point - Jones isn't slow, but he isn't exactly fast either... so I doubt that he'd be a great cover guy. Oh well. We'll find out soon enough!

I too regard the PDF version as authoritative. Also, Robinson has been moved to the one-game IR so it would seem to be unlikely that he will be manning the SAM spot. Perhaps Jones and Horton are swapping positions and that is the error, if there is one.

TSN really doesn't put much effort into replays or breaking down player movement. We just did a terrific job of stopping Cornish in the backfield on 2nd and 1... somehow.

Awesome protection for Ray so far. Admittedly we were in double tight on the Dupuis reception and Calgary didn't blitz, but he hasn't been significantly pressured so far.
