For how much they throw the ball, I don't worry as much about interceptions and Ray's TD to INT ratio is quite good but it is the fumbles that have been killers this year and made this game much closer than it should have been. I don't know what the answer is but the Argos lead the CFL in fumbles and I don't believe that it is even close. They MUST clean that up if they want to have any chance of getting to the playoffs and getting to the Grey Cup.
I agree with you that, thanks to Ray, interceptions, overall, have not been a critical factor in Argo mistakes. However, in addition to being a league leader in fumbles, the Argos have been one of the worst teams at taking unnecessary penalties (roughing, offsides, too many players on the field, procedural penalties, time count violations etc.), being saved in this game only by the other league leading offender Hamilton giving them a first down on the one yard line thanks to an offside penalty when the Ticats had stopped the Argos on third and goal. Of course the Argos quickly returned the favour by taking an unnecessary roughing penalty on the TD (only being saved by the fact it occurred after the TD), thereby giving the Ticats good field position on the subsequent kickoff when the penalty. Another common mistake is the Argos inability to run a two minute drill late in the season, resulting in valuable clock time coming off the clock near the end of the game. I'm replying to your Hamilton game comment in the Montreal game thread because if the Argos do not start to eliminate this ongoing pattern of errors that should be greatly reduced by this point in the season, I fear these mistakes will cost them the next game. If the Argos do not improve in this regard, I predict it will end their season, either in the season's last game or the playoffs.

We need to clean up so much by Sunday's game. We need this game and against Ottawa to head into the playoffs on a roll. If we play stupid ball on Sunday and lose the little hope I have will once again be shot. Not sure why but that sloppy game against Hamilton has me very excited for Montreal and I think we have a good shot. If our D can play the same, Milanovich finally throws in a few wrinkles and we keep penalties down we could do well.

Montreal has been prone to committing penalties on ST, so I expect the Argos to win the battle of field position. If they can get a matchup with Ware on the tall receivers and not let the rest of a turnover free Montreal Offence lull them to sleep, the Argos should win if we hold onto the ball.

I would also like them to match Orhian Johnson on one of the big receivers. He looked way of out place on Saturday on the corner. I don't know why they powers-that-be would put a natural safety on the corner, just like they did with Matt Ware. IMO, the defense needs to be more settled in keeping the same players at the same positions, if possible. Case in point is Jamie Robinson. He could be a good DB if left in one position except that he has played every position in the secondary and at strong side linebacker during the past two seasons.

We can only hope that S.M. And company have come up with a way to spread/stretch the very tight zone that the Als threw at them in the last game. I don't know if the Als will come back with this same scheme, or a close variant, but they have no reason not to. The Argo offense has not yet shown any sign of being able to deal with it. The Argos either need to force the Als out of it, or find a way to sustain drives in tight traffic in the middle.

Who has the tiebreaker between Montreal and Hamilton and can Montreal still miss the playoffs?

They have only played once so far and the Als won that game by 7 points so the Ticats would need to win by more than that to win that season series. The Als can still miss the playoffs if they lose their last two games and either the Ticats beat Ottawa OR the Als lose to Hamilton by more than 7 points.

Thanks. The CFL posted this article explaining who can clinch and how:

Here's hoping that win we the last two and finish 9-9. We've done pretty well when finishing like that. Imagine that 9-9 could win the east? This has been a WHACKED year. Everyone is playing very meaningful games other than Calgary.

Imagine that 8-10 for one of the three eastern teams won't be good enough to make the playoffs. As I said previously, that will be the best record not to make the playoffs since the Memphis Mad Dogs' 9-8-1 record back in '95.

The Argos must win tomorrow to retain control of their own destiny. If they lose tomorrow, they have to then hope for a Montreal win in Hamilton in addition to a win of their own against Ottawa to make the playoffs.

The depth chart does show a few changes from last week.

We've activated Greenwood, and CVZ and Marcus Thomas have come off the IR. Van Zeyl starts at his usual position, but it's unclear how much the other two will play.

Jones is back as our starting WILL LB, and Bradwell starts at SB/RB to give us our seventh National. In the secondary, Smith is our new field corner in place of Orihan Johnson, which should make Primetime1 happy.

So are we expecting Greenwood to play?

Will Smith really start ahead of Johnson tomorrow? I suspect that we will still see a fair bit of Johnson as he and Jamie Robinson give the Argos some much-needed height in the secondary to match up with Montreal's big receivers.

Anyone want to take a stab at the two scratches? One national and one international would have to sit so I am guessing that the international will be Jarriel King. The national may be one of the linebackers (Hood, Tonye-Tonye, or Greenwood).

King and Tonye-Tonye, unless they dress King as emergency insurance for VZ in which case Thomas sits. Tonye-Tonye has barely played this year and I would imagine Greenwood is already ahead of him on the depth chart. Hood has been valuable on ST all season.

At one time I was excited to see Marcus Thomas on the active roster, but as time went on, he seemed to end up on IR with injuries that no one really hears about. If he does get on the field it will be nice to see some size on the DL that seems to be missing this year.

Would that qualify as an "old boys" move?

We can't let the Als get a running game going. If Crompton beats us, so be it.
